On Saturday, the Grant Park Community will host a fundraiser to help a local family. The family is facing financial difficulty after their daughter was seriously in- jured in a traffic accident on January 20th.
The fundraiser for ShaTayshia Brinson, 11, will take place on Saturday, March 7th, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., at Zumba Fitness Studio, 3835 N. 50th Street.
ShaTayshia was seri- ously injured in a traffic ac- cident on January 20th while returning home from Gainesville. At the time of the accident, doctors told her parents that ShaTayshia was not going to survive.
However, she is still a pa- tient at Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville. Doc- tors have since told her par- ents that she will need special equipment and a room of her own when she is released. A

SHATAYSHIA BRINSON ...Injured in a traffic accident
President said, “We are ask- ing the Tampa Bay Commu- nity to come out and support our effort. As a community leader, I was totally sur- prised that the Brinson Family in East Tampa had not received the same sup- port as families in other communities around the Tampa Bay area.
“It is our responsibility to embrace all of our families
that endure hardships. I can- not begin to image a mother who has fought cancer, lost her oldest son in a car acci- dent, and now has another child severely injured in a car accident, is going through mentally, physically, and emotionally. So, I ask the East Tampa community and the Bay area as a whole to help. Investing in people is the greatest investment on earth.”
Key further said they need contractors, volunteers, supplies, monetary dona- tions and prayers to help the Brinson family.
ShaTayshia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie (Jencey) Brin- son, Jr. Known as “Dudda Bug,” ShaTayshia was born on July 1, 2003. She is a student at Ferrell Middle Magnet Girls Academy. She is also a cheerleader for the Fair Oaks Rattlers and wants to become a model.
