Young Woman Hosting ‘A Polka Dot Affair’
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
A Tampa woman has planned ‘A Polka Dot Affair’ for this weekend to assist those interested in business to “connect the dots.”
Ms. Jawana Goodwin,
30, explained that the Polka Dot Affair is a 4-hour event with 6 ‘hot topics.’
“Growing up in St. Croix U. S. Virgin Island, one of seven siblings, I was Home Schooled by my Mother. After graduating from St. Croix Central High School in 2006, I worked for a com- pany called Virgin Island Waste Management Author- ity as a receptionist, where they helped me realize my dream of going to study graphic design.
“Now my dream and pas- sion is to connect profession- als and inspire them to achieve all their goals in life,” she said.
God has gifted her with many talents. One has led to the founding of Lights of In-

spiration. “Through God's grace, it provides help in all aspects of business, net- working, personal and pro- fessional development.
“In this world we are all little specks. We can connect with each other and that be- comes unification,” she said. “If there is no unity, there is no prosperity.”
The Polka Dot Affair will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, 2:30-6:30 p. m. at Chic Venue, 1339 E. Fletcher Ave.
The 6 topics and speakers
are: “Season of Preparation” – must be prepared to do the work (Jawana Goodwin); “Season of Sowing” – have to sow seeds (Yolanda George); “Season of Grati- tude” – must be grateful for the little things (Eric Dob- bie); “Season of Restoration” (Ashley Schrader); “Sea- son of Harvesting” (Tilyshea Johnson); and “Season of Reaping,” – you’ll start to reaping from the har- vest (Selphenia Nichols). The speakers have been in her life for many years.
Ms. Goodwin says she has always had a desire to do event planning. “One day I was sitting with my manager at work and she started men- toring and encouraging me. From that, God gave me the vision to bring entrepreneurs together – by connecting the dots.” That led to the name “Polka Dot Affair.” This her second event.
