Bucs Sign Darryl Tapp
DARRYL TAPP
The Buccaneers, who rank last in the league with seven sacks in six games, signed vet- eran defensive end Darryl Tapp after a Tuesday work- out. Tampa Bay also worked out Wallace Gilberry and Owa Odighizuwa.
Tapp, 33, spent time with the Saints this season but has not played.
He has 28 career sacks in 11 seasons with Seattle, Philadel- phia, Washington, Detroit and New Orleans, but only 4.5 of his sacks have come the past five years.
The Bucs announced Tues- day they waived first-year safety Isaiah Johnson, whom they promoted from the practice squad three weeks ago. They are expected to sign Johnson back to the practice squad.
Curry Calls $50K Fine An 'Expensive Mouthpiece Toss'
STEPH CURRY
Stephen Curry was re- lieved when he found out he would be allowed to play in Monday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.
But the Golden State War- riors superstar told ESPN he was "kind of surprised" when he learned of the $50,000 price he would pay.
"It's an expensive mouth- piece toss," Curry said after he poured in a game-high 29 points in the Warriors' 133-103 victory. "At the end of the day, it's not about the money, it's about me not doing stupid stuff and losing my cool like that. It's obviously a tough blow, but it's more so about me recognizing how to handle my- self on the court."
High-Scoring No. 17 South Florida Takes Aim At Houston Saturday
Having A Breakout Season;
Faces Cam Newton Sunday
No. 17 South Florida puts its undefeated record on the line Saturday against Hous- ton, but both teams must be careful about letting leads slip away in the second half.
USF (7-0, 4-0 American Athletic Conference) got a scare last week, leading Tu- lane 34-7, only to see the Green Wave score 21 unan- swered points late, attempt- ing three onside kicks. The Bulls recovered two of them to hold on, but it served as a reminder not to let up under any circumstances.
The Bulls have the nation’s longest win streak at 12 games and, perhaps more impressively, have scored at least 30 points in 24 straight games, a modern-era record that Houston (4-3, 2-2) will
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers may not be having the best season around, but there’s one key Buccaneer who’s thriving this season: star quarterback Jameis Winston.
After two years of very promising but not quite con- sistently good play, Winston has taken the next step and turned into a top ten quarter- back—and maybe even more.
Winston’s gotten more accurate, more careful with the football and more produc- tive with his throws. He’s im- proved in every facet of the game that we can track statis- tically or see on the field. Ex- cept for his deep throws, but even there he seems to be im- proving. Hopefully, Winston can use the deep ball against the blitzing Carolina Panthers defense Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX. Cam Newton will be trying to get his team back on winning side after 2 straight losses.
Simeon Rice Thinks He Could Still Play After 10-Year Hiatus

end Simeon Rice isn't kid- ding around when he says he wants to come back and play. Rice hasn't taken a snap since the 2007 season, but at 43, he said he can still do it. And he wants to.
He has been tweeting about it and told ESPN he's completely serious, if the Bucs will have him.

try to stop.
“It’s going to be a really
good battle for us,” USF coach Charlie Strong said, pleased with his team’s three-headed running attack of quarterback Quinton Flowers and running backs Darius Tice and D’Ernest Johnson. “That’s what we are hanging our hat on, being a physical football team.”
Dwight Freeney Signed With Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks added veteran pass rusher Dwight Freeney to their de- fensive line. Freeney will play Sunday.
Freeney had a workout with the Seahawks on Tues- day and agreed to a deal with the team on Tuesday night.
With Cliff Avril on in- jured reserve and ineligible to play until at least Week 15 and Michael Bennett play- ing through a plantar fascia injury, the Seahawks were in need of some help in their pass rush unit. The addition

of Freeney should allow Seattle to limit some wear and tear on Bennett and manage his foot injury throughout the rest of the season.
Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Lands $1 Million Book Deal
Colin Kaepernick may not be able to find a job in the NFL, but it would appear the free agent quarterback has plenty of other ways to keep the revenue stream flowing.
Page Six reports that Kaepernick has signed a $1 million book deal with One World, which is an imprint of Random House. One World was launched last year by Chris Jackson, who also has a contract signed with Jay-Z.
Kaepernick, of course, was the first one to take a knee during the national an- them in the NFL over a year ago. The 29-year-old has not been able to find a team to sign him even as a backup, and he recently filed a griev-

ance against the NFL claim- ing collusion by the league’s owners.
It wouldn’t be hard to imagine a book written by Kaepernick becoming a best-seller, as the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has received a ton of support from fans, fellow athletes and celebrities throughout the 2017 season.
