nesses of the Old Night- lighter’s Club and Bexley’s Chicken Place. He is cur- rently seeking partners to renovate the building and make use of it. “We want to elevate the community – make it a busy community like it used to be,” Knight said. “We know this mural will bring about a lot of con- versation.
“I know there are some events in this community this weekend and a lot of people will get to see it, sparking conversation.
With Super Bowl LV in
Tampa this weekend, the artist of the mural, Bran- dan “BMike” Odums, came to town at the request of the ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s.
Kaepernick, a friend of the artist, has one of the ice cream company’s flavors – “Change The Whirled.” BMike designed that label for the company.
The mural on the West Tampa building features the “Know Your Rights” 10 points, which adds to the conversations.

when I go into a community is make sure that youth from that area are featured and local artists are involved. All of the faces are young people in the community,” BMike said. He travels globally painting murals.
BMike said it took about 5 days to complete the mural.
At press time, BMike and those who accompanied him were on their way back to New Orleans. (Photos by BRUNSON)
