MS. CAROL BLANKS
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Carol Blanks, who passed away on Monday, August 23rd, 2021, will be held on Sunday, Sep- tember 5th, 11:00 a.m., at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Mar- tin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Rev. Michael Neely, officiating. The in- terment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
She was born on October 29, 1957, in Haiti to Aurelie Desriv- ieres.
Carol loved to cook. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Carol leaves to cherish precious memories: her children, Caroline Lherisson and husband, Alex Ford, Terry Alcindor, Saint- phany Steve Lherisson, Alain Clerge and Jerry Clerge; grand- children, Je’Nah Bowe, Richard Bowe, Jr., Valerie Lherisson, Damien Ford, and Cameron Ford; mother, Aurelie Desrivieres; brother, Salomon Desrivieres; sister, Marielin Dejean; aunt, Theresa Eugene; nieces, Sasha Brutus, Rochelle Mondesty, and Ruth Dejean. The visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the Chapel on Sunday for the service.

This event also fostered ca- maraderie among the players. Arthur gave back to the commu- nity by teaching Pool Checkers to young people at the Hope Community Center, where he held tournament events. He also held a tournament at his church, First Baptist Church of College Hill.
Arthur credited the An- drews brother, (the late C. Blythe and Dr. W. W.) for en- couraging him in his checker game. They made it possible for him and other men to play checkers on 29th Street. Arthur was also chosen as a Goodwill Ambassador for American Pool Checkers Organization. He was recognized for his efforts in or- ganizing the players in Tampa, and the surrounding area.
Arthur enjoyed bowling and joined several bowling leagues. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Sheldon Mc- Carr; grandchildren, Kesha Mc- Carr, Tiffany McCarr-Watson (Kevin), Keith McCarr and Jahla McCarr; great grandchil- dren, Kaleb Robinson, Kamaya Wilson, Kevin Watson, Jr., Eli- jah McCarr, Kason Watson, Trinity McCarr, Karson Mc- Carr, Kaelynn Watson; sister, Roberta James (Bill) Boston, MA; special friends, Dr. Leonard Campbell, Rev. John Anderson, Rev. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Fri- day, September 3rd, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church for the service on Saturday. There will be no interment.
The repast will be held at 3501 N. 26th Street. (Betty’s cor- ner) on the corner of 26th Street and Chipco St., immediately fol- lowing the service.
We are following CDC guide- lines. Everyone, vaccinated and unvaccinated, are required to wear a mask at the viewing and the funeral.

MR. EUGENE RAVENEL
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Eugene Ravenel of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on August 24, 2021, will be held on September 4, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. Tampa, Florida, 33610. Minister Bruce Bryant, of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Tampa officiating.
Mr. Eugene Ravenel was born April 19, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was one of ten children born to the late Rev. James Ravenel, Sr., and Berniece Ravenel. Eugene was a proud graduate of Florida Agricul- tural and Mechanical Univer- sity and earned a Master of Business Administration de- gree from the University of Tampa.
He was very active in the community to include serving as a basketball coach, youth mentor, math tutor, real estate instructor and as a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He also served in many ca- pacities at New Hope M. B. Church to include Church Trustee and Overseas Mission- ary in support of Haiti.
Eugene was preceded in death by: his parents, Rev. James Ravenel, Sr., and Berniece Ravenel and brother, Lee Ravenel.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Pamela Ravenel; son, Evan Ravenel; daughter, Erin Ravenel; broth- ers, James Ravenel, Jr., (Mar- ion), Frank Ravenel, Sr., (Harriett), Benjamin Ravenel (Vivian), Isaiah Ravenel (Emi), Edward Ravenel (Blanche), Harry Ravenel (Anna); sisters, Julia Forrest, Juanita Young (Oscar); aunt, Julia Gilliard; uncles, Leon Dunmeyer (Alice), Joseph Dunmeyer, Sr., Edward Dunmeyer and sister-in-law, Bernadette Ravenel.

A Homegoing Service for Mr. Calvin B. Johnson of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Au- gust 20, 2021, will be held on Sat- urday September 4th, 11:00 a.m. at Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2110 Lowe St. Rev. Dr. Glenn B. Dames Jr., Sr. Pastor; Pastor Joe Lowe, officiat- ing.
Calvin, also known as “Tweet,” was born December 11, 1980, to Arthur Bell and Linda Johnson. Calvin was born and raised in our very own Tampa Bay, on the East side of Tampa and attended Hills- borough High School. Calvin grew to become a well-known loving man. He worked for the Tampa Club for 20 plus years. Meanwhile meeting his wonderful wife and marrying her in 2012, as to where they built their foundation in Seffner Florida.
Calvin became a business owner of “C&S Cleaning Team” his Legacy will live on! He enjoyed watching football, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by: Flora Lowe, Author Bell, and Johnson Wallace Johnson.

MR. ARTHUR ‘MOOCHIE’ McCARR, JR.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Arthur “Moochie” Mc- Carr, Jr., of Tampa, who passed away on August 21, 2021, will be held on Saturday, September 4th, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th St., Dr. S. Evan Burrows, Senior Pastor, Officiating.
Arthur, who was affection- ately called, “Moochie” by his family and friends, was born March 11, 1939, to the late Arthur E. McCarr, Sr., and Ethel McCarr.
He was a native of Tampa, Florida, and a graduate of Mid- dleton Senior High School, class of 1956. After high school, he continued his education at Florida A & M University. He was a member of the Florida A & M “Marching 100,” where he played the clarinet. His college roommate was brass section leader, the late Dr. Charles “Prof” Bing, Sr.
It was at Florida A&M where he met his bride, Mattie “Tot” Barnes. Once, Arthur entered the workforce, he was employed by Reynolds Aluminum, Termi- nal Transport, and Unijack. He retired after employment at Sligh Middle School.
Arthur was well-known in Tampa and throughout the country for his legendary skills as a Pool Checkers Champion, a skill and art he learned from his late father, Arthur McCarr, Sr.
After developing his love for checkers, Arthur competed in and won several national tour- naments. He won competitions from the Junior to the Master level. Every second Saturday in March, for many years Arthur would celebrate his birthday by hosting a “Pool Checkers” gala, where Pool Checkers players
