 Local
  Health Forum Celebrates 3rd Anniversary
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Several years ago, three local men came together at a local restaurant. Their topic of discussion was health care for the Tampa Bay Area.
The mutual concern was shared by the late Coach Billy Reed, David Snow, III, and Chester White, Jr. The men met and dis- cussed the issue at the Mc- Donald’s Restaurant, corner of N. 19th Street and E. Hills- borough Avenue.
As a result of their con- cerns and with the assis- tance and sponsorship of Bob Conigliaro, of Casper Corporation, the Men’s Health Forum became a re- ality. The forum eventually expanded to include women.
Recently, Snow and
DAVID SNOW, III
White, along with McDon- ald’s, celebrated the Third Anniversary of the Men and Women’s Health Forum. It is held once a month and of- fers a wide range of health screenings. The event also
features a different speaker each month.
White said, “The educa- tion of African American men and the necessity and importance of having regu- lar checkups and to take full advantage of preventable medications.”
The health forum is held the last Friday of each month. It takes place begin- ning at 11 a.m., at the Col- lege Hill Church Of God In Christ, corner of N. 30th Street and E. Diana Avenue. Superintendent Charles Davis is the host pastor.
White further stated that the forum would not have been possible without the assistance of others, in- cluding Ms. Beverly Snow, Ms. Cherylene Levy, Ms. Candy Lowe, and Ms. Ann Jenkins.
