3rd Annual ‘Real Men Wear Pink’ Awards Ceremony Held
Recently, members of Sisters Net- work, Tampa Bay held their 3rd Annual “Real Men Wear Pink” event in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Reverend Reginald Franklin, widower of the late Mrs. Sonia Franklin, delivered the keynote ad- dress. Rev. Franklin was nominated by his children, who said their father still wears pink although their mother suc- cumbed to breast cancer two years ago.
Members of the community nomi- nated several men who they felt de- served recognition. The winners were chosen based on their being helpful in the areas of time, finances, emotional support, or other factors that helped a victim of breast cancer on the journey to recovery.
The 2016 honorees of the “Real Men Wear Pink” recognition were: James Bess, Willis Brinson, III, Robin Defreitas, Rev. Reginald Franklin, Edrick Griffith, Richard Hopkins, Alonzo Jones, Kenneth Scott, and Kelvin Walker.
