FROM: THE CANDY SHOP
A special shout goes out on April 5, 2020 to Doc Shane, from the Candy Shop.
Retired RN Left A Legacy Of Memories
Late in the afternoon of March 25, 2020, God reached down and plucked a beautiful rose from his earthly garden. Carolyn H. Kinsey transi- tioned from this life and jour- neyed to her heavenly home after a short illness. A native of Tampa and long-time Reg- istered Nurse, she left heart- prints in many medical and educational arenas in the Bay Area.
Born to Johnny and Catherine Hall, Carolyn was joined in early childhood by a sister, Julia H. Collins and two brothers, Jon and Anthony Hall. She enjoyed many wonderful and produc- tive educational experiences. Carolyn was a product of the Hillsborough County School District and graduate of Mid- dleton High School’s class of 1961, where she achieved many educational milestones and was known for her pursuit of academic excellence, among

which included induction into the National Honor Society where she served as Vice Pres- ident.
She furthered her studies at Florida A & M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Carolyn had a suc-
cessful career in the medical field, where she advocated for patients and cared for them with compassion and respect.
Throughout her nursing career, she mentored other nurses giving them the en- couragement and guidance to be the best that they could be. Carolyn exhibited leadership capabilities that catapulted her into health care management. She was the Charge Nurse on the OB/GYN floor at Tampa General Hospital. Carolyn later joined the Hillsborough County Health Department, where she served as an Assis- tant Director until her retire- ment in 2001.
Outside of her career, Car- olyn quietly worked behind the scene to encourage and in- spire young people to reach their fullest potential. Along- side her husband, Herbert Kinsey, she motivated both of her children, Kathy and Kirk to achieve their educational and life goals. Her love for children and their best interest was exemplified in her close relationship with her two grandchildren, Brynae and K. J. She helped to mold them into young people who will make the world a better place.
She was also extremely in- volved in the lives of children in the family and she dedicated a great deal of, time and en- ergy to the Thunder Basketball Team, serving as the ex-officio team mom.
Carolyn was a member of St. John Progressive Mission- ary Baptist Church. She had a natural gift for helping others. Her kind and generous spirit was like a magnet that drew others to her. She was known for her caring, gentle ways and her ability to highlight the pos- itive side of any situation. Her welcoming smile was infec- tious, and her soft-spoken ap- proached with others revealed the beauty of her heart and soul.
Carolyn’s loving de- meanor will be greatly missed, but she has left many memo- ries that will keep her alive in our hearts forever.
Due to the Coronavirus, there will not be a public serv- ice. However, the family would love for you to memori- alize her life by attending the viewing at Ray Williams Fu- neral Home on Friday, April 3, 2020 between the hours of 3 and 7 p. m.
