President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama will appear in an hour-long NBC special on Sunday aimed at promot- ing COVID-19 vaccinations as they hope to convince hes- itant Americans to get shots.
The special comes as the Biden administration races to get shots in arms and com- bat vaccine hesitancy, partic- ularly after it was recommended that the US pause the use of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine over six reported U. S. cases of a "rare and severe" type of blood clot.
The "Roll Up Your Sleeves" special will air at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday on NBC, accord- ing to a news release from the nonprofit Civic Nation. It is presented by Walgreens and was created by ATTN: in partnership with Civic Na- tion's Made to Save initiative, which is a national public ed- ucation and grassroots or- ganizing effort focused on equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and building trust in the vaccines.

during the special, and Obama will appear along- side former NBA stars Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal to en- courage Americans to get vaccinated so they can help end the pandemic and return to their normal lives.
Biden's chief COVID-19 adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci will speak on "separating fact from fiction about the vac- cines," and will be inter- viewed by actor Matthew McConaughey.
The special will also fea-
ture former first lady Michelle Obama and a whole slate of celebrities, in- cluding Sterling K. Brown, Lana Condor, Billy Crys- tal, Eric Dane, Ryan Eggold, Dr. Vin Gupta, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hud- son, Dale Jarrett, Ken Jeong, Joe Jonas, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Joel McHale, Lin-Manuel Mi- randa, Kumail Nanjiani, Ellen Pompeo, Amanda Seyfried, Jane Seymour and Wanda Sykes.
The Centers for Disease Con- trol and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administra- tion's recommended pause of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine coincides with a push by some U. S. col- leges and universities to re- quire students to be inoculated by the fall semester.
At least a dozen schools are mandating students be vacci- nated before returning to cam- pus, including Rutgers University. Jonathan Hol- loway, President of Rutgers University, was the first to an- nounce the university will re-
quire the COVID-19 vaccine for students.
His tenure at the university started just as the coronavirus pandemic began. Come fall 2021, he said he wants his stu- dents back on campus but to do that, students need the vac- cine.
"How did the student body react when you made the an- nouncement?" CBS News' Meg Oliver asked Hol- loway.
"The reaction has been wholly positive. They know that this is the path to reopen- ing," he said.
Harris Says She Intends To Visit Mexico And Guatemala Soon
Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters that she intends to visit Mexico and Guatemala soon — several weeks after President Biden tapped her to lead the admin- istration's efforts to address migration at the southern bor- der by focusing on the North- ern Triangle countries and Mexico.
Harris has been on the re- ceiving end of criticism from Republicans for having not yet traveled to the border or Cen- tral American nations con- tributing to the increased flow of migrants. The number of migrants trying to cross the border has soared in recent months, and some facilities holding migrants are filled far past capacity, despite the still raging pandemic. Reporters recently had a chance to look inside a facility in Donna, Texas, holding 16 times more migrants than its capacity dur- ing the pandemic.

It isn't yet clear exactly when Harris will make the trip to Mexico and Guatemala. When Mr. Biden tapped Harris for the role, he said she would be working on "two tracks" — first on the goal of stemming the flow of irregular migrants to the U. S., and establishing a strategic partnership with the nations within her purview.
