Businessman Honored As Community Trailblazer

Tampa Businessman Joe Robinson is no stranger to government officials in Tampa. In fact, his commit- ment to his hometown and his passion for his commu- nity is his legacy.
Recently, members of the Tampa City Council let Robinson know that his ef- forts to improve the quality of life in Tampa has not gone unnoticed. Robinson was presented a commendation by City Council recognizing him as a Community Trail- blazer.
The commendation read, “In grateful appreciation for the countless years of out- standing dedication and service to the community, Tampa City Council is pleased to present this com- mendation to honor Mr. Joseph “Joe” Robinson.
“In recognition of your blazing leadership and style and determination of taking audacious actions to secure economic opportunities for minority-owned businesses and community members, advocating for minority con- tracts to preserve West Tampa’s cultural integrity and foundation, your in- volvement in many commu- nity issues for decades has renewed a sense of pride in the West Tampa area and be- yond.”
Robinson has served in many capacities on the West Tampa Community Advisory Committee, he is the Vice President of the Hillsbor- ough County Branch of the NAACP, he serves on the County’s Charter Review Board and on the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
A Tampa native, Robin- son graduated from Tampa

After graduating, Robin- son returned to Tampa and became a licensed Profes- sional Engineer. He is the founder and owner of RHC and Associates, Inc., Con- sulting Engineers.
His roles in the firm, es- tablished in 1990, are presi- dent and CEO, management and business development, project development, and overall construction manage- ment, as well as technical support on company proj- ects.
Robinson is also a 1975 Charter Member of NSBE- The National Society of Black Engineers.
He is the son of the late
Mrs. Thelma Robinson,
and the father of one adult daughter, who is also an En- gineer.
Catholic High School. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, where he earned his BSME Degree
in 1977. He graduated fifth in his class and was a four-year letterman in Track and Field for the Hawkeyes.
