Man Gets 17 Years For Drugs, Guns
CHAUNCEY GREGORY
A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in federal prison. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and drugs.
Last Friday, District
Judge Steven D. Merry- day handed the lengthy sen- tence to Chauncey Gregory, of St. Petersburg, for having 500 grams or more of cocaine with the in- tent to distribute it, and for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Gregory pleaded guilty to the charges on February 6, 2018.
According to court docu- ments, Gregory was dealing drugs in St. Petersburg. On August 24, 2017, law en- forcement executed a search warrant at Gregory’s resi- dence.
As they arrived, one of Gregory’s “customers” was at the home to make a pur- chase from him. During the search, law enforcement re- covered approximately 1 kilogram of cocaine, 8.5 ounces of ecstasy, 15.5 grams of crack cocaine, 743 grams of marijuana; a cocaine press, a narcotics scale, drug baggies, cash, and a loaded .38 caliber revolver, which was next to Gregory’s pass- port.
Gregory is not allowed to have a gun because he is a convicted felon.
While on pretrial release, Gregory attempted to retal- iate against the law enforce- ment officers who investigated the case against him. Officials did not release the manner in which he tried to retaliate against the offers.
However, once the Court was made aware of the situa- tion, his bond was then re- voked, and an additional 7-1/2 years were added to his sentence.
