Rays Of Hope Outreach Summer Program To Begin
Autistic Child Drowns In Pond

For the past six years, Horace Drew, founder of the Rays Of Hope Outreach, has offered a unique summer program. It is designed for youngsters between 7 and 18 years of age.
This year, the Rays Of Hope Outreach Summer Program will begin on Mon- day, June 4th. It is slated to end on Saturday, July 28th.
Those enrolled in the pro- gram will meet on Monday nights and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will be held at the Rays Of Hope Outreach Ministry, 211 S. 22nd Street.
“We provide dynamic speakers and mentors for our youth each night of the program. As an additional incentive, we will provide ac- tivities on Saturdays for the youth,” Drew said.

mer. It will continue throughout the year. “We continue to offer our mentor-
ing service throughout the year for all of the students enrolled in the program. We want to save our youth. We are all about mentoring and learning.”

A 4-1/2-year-old Autistic child drowned in a pond Wednesday. The investiga- tion into his death is continu- ing.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call Wednesday afternoon. When they arrived at the Clipper Bay Apartments, they learned
that David Sikes was miss- ing. His mother, Mrs. April Sikes, told police she had laid down for a nap.
Somehow, the child was able to manipulate the door and leave the residence. Offi- cers found the child in a pond near the residence at 2:59 p.m. They were unable to re- vive him.
