BEAUTY UNLIMITED
SIERRA
This week’s Beauty Unlimited feature, Sierra, knows it will take more than what the others are doing to be successful. Her very presence invites people who want to get closer to her, but she’s very careful about who she lets into her inner circle. She knows you will have to have that certain something different to catch the attention of the powers that be. Sierra can always aim for the stars, and ex- pect nothing but success. Congratulations to Sierra as this week’s Beauty Unlimited feature.
Declares
Bankruptcy In
Wake Of Sex
Abuse Scandal
Facing a mountain of law- suits over the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, USA Gymnastics filed for bank- ruptcy Wednesday.
The beleaguered organiza- tion has been beset by financial struggles and leadership turnover as it has sought to contain a scandal sparked by Nassar, the longtime team doctor accused of molesting hundreds of young women and girls.
USA Gymnastics said it is currently facing 100 lawsuits representing more than 350 Nassar victims around the country.
By filing for bankruptcy, the organization is able to put on hold all litigation, including ongoing discovery and deposi- tions of key figures.
Kathryn Carson, who was recently elected chair of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors, said the cases will be consolidated before a bank- ruptcy judge — a move that will allow the organization to re- solve claims more quickly.
Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald Eclipses Jerry Rice's Single-Team Mark
LARRY FITZGERALD
Larry Fitzgerald finally caught Jerry Rice.
The Arizona Cardinals star receiver passed Rice on Sun- day for most catches with one team in NFL history. Fitzger- ald's 14-yard catch with 5 minutes, 48 seconds left in the third quarter against the De- troit Lions gave him 1,282 catches in his 15 seasons with the Cardinals. Rice had 1,281 with the 49ers.
The rarity of a player stay- ing in one city for his entire ca- reer was not lost on Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was drafted by the Cardinals third overall in 2004. He has signed four contracts over his 15-year career with a handful of exten- sions added throughout.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lindsey Vonn, LeBron James and Cindy Crawford start wellness brand 'Ladder.’
LeBron James has teamed with supermodel Cindy Crawford, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and pro-ski racer Lindsey Vonn to launch health and wellness brand "Ladder."
The brand will kick off by offering four products– whey protein, plant-based protein, and two different drink mixes dubbed "Energy" and "Greens."
According to the website, the inspiration for Ladder traces back to 2014, when James and his trainer, Mike Mancias, created a custom protein powder for- mulated specifically to meet the Los Angeles Lakers’ needs for quality and safety.
Facing a similar struggle in 2016, Schwarzenegger and James began to discuss the need of fully-transparent and high-quality health products before adding Vonn and Crawford to their team.
With a common desire to make a difference, the four built Ladder on three pillars: scientifically-backed infor- mation, community interac- tion with world-class experts, and customized nu- trition products that meet the highest standards for safety and purity.
Though Ladder products are NSF Certified and built for elite athletes, the brand is said to be fit for all lifestyles.
Lakers Trying To Add
Suns' Trevor Ariza In
Three-Way Trade
The Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in talks to try to acquire Phoenix Suns for- ward Trevor Ariza.
The teams have been working to reach an agree- ment with a third team that would take on Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell- Pope as part of a potentially larger deal, league sources said.
The Suns want to land a playmaking guard and a draft asset as the price of unloading Ariza, sources said. Phoenix and Los Angeles have made progress in third-team sce- narios, although no agree- ments are close and both teams remain active in multi- ple trade discussions throughout the league, sources said.
TREVOR ARIZA
No trade can be com- pleted officially until Satur- day, when players who, like Ariza, were signed in sum- mer free agency become eligi- ble to be traded.
The Lakers are attempting to find a third team to make a trade for Phoenix's Trevor Ariza work.
