Mind Your Own Business
“Here is the prime condition of success: Concentrate your en- ergy, thought and capital exclusively upon the business which you are engaged. ...Resolve to lead in it...adopt every improvement, have the best... and know the most about it.”
Andrew Carnegie
mpowered Greet-
ings. In order to get where you are trying to go in life, it is imperative that you mind your own business. When you start redirecting your time worrying about what your so-called competi- tors are doing, remember to mind your own business.
When you start trying to redesign your ministry to function like somebody else, remember what God called you to do and mind your own business. When you start trying to accomplish and gain the possessions of others, remember to take a step back so that you can mind your own business.
In order for you to rise to be your best, you must mind your own business. In other words, stay focused on the essentials in your life. The
center of your attraction should be on developing strategies to build you per- sonally, so that you can grow yourself, your business or your ministry. Here are 7 reasons why you should Mind Your Own Busi- ness (M.Y.O.B.).
1. Mind your own business so that you can en- deavor to concentrate on perfecting your craft.
2. Mind your own business so that you may de- vote your time and efforts to activating your business or ministry potential.
3. Mind your own business so that you can make critical decisions nec- essary to recover, strengthen and succeed in today’s di- verse and challenging mar- ket.
4. Mind your own business so that you can cre- ate profitable partnerships or collaborations that will help you navigate and find relevant resources or ideas to sustain your business or ministry.
5. Mind your own business so that you can dedicate time to praying to God, seeking God and hear- ing the voice of God for guid- ance and direction in your
personal, business or min- istry pursuits.
6. Mind your own business because what you spend your energy on is what you energize.
7. Mind your own business because now, more than ever, is the time to en- ergize and maximize the power of your own business.
Remember, don’t be too busy meddling in somebody else’s business to mind your own business.

Farewell, Proud Kennebunk
n an epic poem The Rape of Kuwait, poet James E.
Tokley referred to the hero of the “First Gulf War” (President George Herbert Walker Bush) by the name of Bush family’s vacation estate in Maine.
Tongue-in-cheek, Tokley called him “Proud Kenne- bunk.” So, as an enduring attempt, as flags of mourn- ing still flutter at half-mast and as Marine and Navy bands still play “Hail to the Chief,” we choose to adopt the poet’s preference, “Proud Kennebunk, to bid our farewell to America’s 41st president.
Born and raised in a nation wracked with growing pains, both domestic and foreign, Proud Kennebunk who was said to have had a demeanor like television talk-show Mr. Rogers, and a drawl like John Wayne, could draw his bloodline years back to the Revolution- ary War and reach forward to the 20th century seat of the governor’s mansion in Tallahassee.
Proud Kennebunk, as we call him, was a Com- mander-in-Chief whose military forces tamed the aspi- rations of a power-mad Saddam Hussein, and whose eyes watched the dying of a former Soviet Union, and did in final days behold the coming of his own physical demise.
But what did the 41st President mean to Black Amer- icans and the trek we undertook while he was in office? Under him, Colin Powell took up the gauntlet of Amer- ica’s first Joint Chief of Staff that brought victory to the Free World in the Middle East.
Under GHWB, continued steps were made that made it easier to be Black and truly free in this nation. Consult the history books to see for yourself.
So, we say about Proud Kennebunk (President 41) the current president has some large shoes to fill. Fur- thermore, as for President Trump, history will proba- bly record the turning point of his political and personal conscience was when he attended the funeral services of George Herbert Walker Bush (Proud Ken- nebunk) and through eulogy, learned how the job of Commander-in-Chief should be done.
