Governor Announces 157 New Jobs Slated For Tampa
Governor Rick Scott an- nounced that Willis Group Holdings PLC, a global risk ad- visory and insurance brokerage firm, has chosen Tampa as the site of its new Operational Cen- ter of Excellence in North America. The new center will create 157 new jobs for Tampa families and serve as a south- east regional hub for Willis. The project will also invest more than $9 million in the local community.
As part of its North America business, Willis currently oper- ates eight retail insurance bro- kerage offices in the State of Florida, including its existing Tampa retail office. The Oper- ational Center of Excellence will feature teams of insurance professionals providing sup- port to Willis’s property/casu- alty business across North America.
Additionally, the state-of- the-art facility offers employees
a modern work space to inno- vate and collaborate. Willis’s estimated $9.05 million capital investment will include renova- tion costs for their office space as well as furniture, fixtures, and computer/IT equipment.
The project was made pos- sible through strong partner- ships between Enterprise Florida, the Tampa Hillsbor- ough Economic Development Corporation, Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the Florida Department of Eco- nomic Opportunity.
Willis joins a growing roster of multinational companies that have recently established major North American and re- gional operations in Tampa and Hillsborough County, in- cluding Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and Ash- ley Furniture Industries.
