Gerald McCoy Signs
49ers All-Pro NaVorro Bowman Officially Retires
NAVORRO BOWMAN
A tackling machine for eight seasons in the Bay Area, NaVorro Bowman offi- cially retired on Tuesday af- ternoon and did so as a San Francisco 49er.
For seven-plus seasons, the linebacker was a terror for the Niners, earning four Pro Bowl bids and three All-Pro selec- tions in the red and gold.
Bowman, a 2010 third- round pick out of Penn State, did not play in 2018, so 2017 stands as his final NFL season -- one in which he was cut by the 49ers and signed three days later by the Oakland Raiders.
His final season tallies saw him turn in 127 tackles, six for a loss and three passes de- fended in 15 games. It was the fifth time he topped 100 tack- les in his career, a mark he surpassed every season in which he played double-digit games.

Patriots Fans Into Panic

Gerald McCoy won't be leaving the NFC South after all.
The six-time Pro Bowl de- fensive tackle signed a one- year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Tues- day, affording him two an- nual matchups against his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McCoy stated, "I'm Home Baby."
McCoy, 31, also took vis- its to the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens before making his final trip to Car- olina last Friday.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera was upbeat on Mon- day when asked about the possibility of signing McCoy.
"I thought (the visit) was received very well," Rivera said Monday when asked about McCoy's visit. "Ger- ald is a solid football player, a guy we most certainly are interested in and that we’d love to have here and be a part of what we’re doing. But he’s going through the process, so we’re just waiting patiently to see what the out- come is going to be."

Why Gerald McCoy Took Less Guaranteed Money To Sign With Panthers
Revenge appears to be a factor in why Gerald McCoy took less guaranteed money to sign with the Car- olina Panthers.
The Baltimore Ravens brought McCoy in for a visit and reportedly offered him a one-year deal. McCoy signed with the Panthers, on a deal that reportedly con- tained less guaranteed money than Baltimore of- fered. Being in the same divi- sion as the Buccaneers and the opportunity to play against them twice next sea- son appears to be a reason McCoy is now a Panther.
A seemingly innocuous In- stagram post by Tom Brady on Tuesday may have inad- vertently sent New England Patriots fans into a panic.
Brady posted photos of himself taken at the team’s first day of mandatory mini- camp Tuesday.
His caption is what stood out: “Treat my first like my last, and my last like my first!”
The quote in the caption comes from Jay-Z’s song “My 1st Song” off the rapper’s 2003 “The Black Album.” It’s a reference to Brady’s work ethic and how he’s still work- ing hard even after two

decades in the league. At the same time, when Brady ref- erences his “last” anything, fans will naturally panic about him potentially retir- ing. The subject of his poten- tial retirement is even in the minds of free agents.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins
So He Can Tend To
‘Personal Issues’
The New England Patriots signed Austin Seferian- Jenkins earlier this offsea- son in hopes of adding some much-needed depth to the tight end position, but the veteran is not staying with the team.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Pa- triots are releasing Sefer- ian-Jenkins so he can deal with “personal issues.”
It’s still possible that New England could bring the for- mer Buc Seferian-Jenkins back, but he will have missed a lot of the offseason pro- gram.
Seferian-Jenkins has had a disappointing NFL ca- reer since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used the No. 38 overall pick on him back in 2014. He appeared in just

five games for the Jack- sonville Jaguars last season and caught 11 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown. While he wasn’t a huge sign- ing for the Patriots, they are extremely thin at the tight end position in the wake of Rob Gronkowski’s retire- ment. It will be interesting to see how they address that going forward.
It goes without saying that Serena Williams is a win- ner, but in case you weren’t sure, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has been named one of Forbes’ “Richest Self- Made Women” thanks to her estimated fortune of $225 million!
FYI: Serena is the first athlete ever to make Forbes’ annual list of the World’s Richest Self-Made Women!
Besides being a beauty on the cover of Forbes’ June Special 2019 issue, the tennis icon and busy mom of 22- month-old cutie Olympia,
chatted with the magazine about her life as a boss.
It turns out, Serena has quietly been investing money into 34 startups over the past five years.
In April, the 37-year-old opened her investment en- tity, Serena Ventures, to focus on funding companies run by women and minori- ties.
Thus far, out of an esti- mated $6 million total in- vested, 60% of her investments have gone to WOC/POC—and of course, herself!
