State Makes Changes To Driver’s License
 And ID Cards
Last month, the Florida De- partment of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles began re- leasing a modified Florida driver license and ID card with enhanced security features to customers. The changes in- clude the removal of the mag- netic strip on the back of the credential, the addition of a tactile security feature and changes to the data and data layout.
By the end of August 2019, the modified credential will be available at all service centers throughout Florida and online.
Individuals are not re- quired to replace their current driver license or ID card during this time, unless their current credential has reached its expi- ration, or a required change is needed, such as a name or ad- dress change.
Previously issued driver li- cense and ID cards will still be used until they are replaced or phased out. Any credentials with a magnetic strip and no tactile feature with an issue date after August 31, 2019, are fraudulent.
Terry L. Rhodes, Execu- tive Director of the FLHSMUV said, “The release of this new credential is part of a contin- ued effort to maintain the high-
est level of security for all Floridians.
In 2017, the department began issuing a redesigned Florida driver license and ID card to provide enhanced secu- rity features for customers, better protecting against iden- tity and driver license fraud. The security features ensure Floridians continue to receive the most secure over-the- counter driver license and ID card on the market today.
Residents are encouraged to check their credential for the gold star in the upper right- hand corner of their credential to verify if they are REAL ID compliant.
If a customer does not see a gold star, they will need to go into a driver license service center or tax collector office to become REAL ID compliant.

6th Annual Father’s Day Celebration Planned
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Holidays are special times of the year. Each holiday is sig- nificant in its own right. One of those holidays that pay tribute to others is often forgotten or it does not receive the recogni- tion it deserves.
That holiday is Father’s Day. It is recognized about 6 weeks after Mother’s Day on the third Sunday of June. However, it does not result in florist shops being sold out or stores being crowded with those purchasing gifts.
But, Mrs. Sheilah Youngblood, founder of Our Sisters, Our Friends, feels that those men who are truly fa- thers deserve to be recognized.
In keeping with this be- lief, she will host the 6th Annual Father’s Day Cele- bration on Sunday, June 16th, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The celebration will take place at MacFarlane
MRS. SHEILAH YOUNGBLOOD
Park, Barksdale Senior Center, 1808 N. Lincoln Avenue, Tampa, 33607.
Mrs. Youngblood said, “I started this event because fa- thers and some grandfathers don’t get the recognition they deserve. I wanted them to know that we see what they are doing and to give them their flowers.
“There are men in the household who are being fa- thers and I want to let them know that we love them and
thank them for standing up. We also want to thank the grandfathers who are standing in the gap.”
The event is open to the public. However, Mrs. Youngblood is requesting that those planning to attend will RSVP no later than Wednesday, June 12th.
The event will feature Mr. Paul Beasley & the Gospel Keynotes, the Mighty Gospel Warriors, and the Traveling Stars. Ms. Lil- lian Evans, local radio per- sonality will serve as the Mistress of Ceremony.
The purchase price of the ticket includes dinner. To at- tend the event, contact Mrs. Youngblood at (813) 965- 5117; or David Bell at (813) 735-3980.
“We are inviting members of the community to come out and have a wonderful time as we share love and joy honoring our fathers and grandfathers,” she said.
