Former USF Football Players Stabbed, One Fatally
Woman Jailed In Hit And Run Accident That Left Man Dead
At 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Tampa Police reported that after Club Orpheum closed, an altercation occurred in a park- ing lot at 19th Street and 7th Av- enue.
Sources report that two for- mer University of South Florida football players, Elkino Watson, 23, and Desmond Horne, 22, got in- volved in the altercation that resulted in both of them being stabbed. Watson was later pronounced dead, and Horne is reported to be in stable con- dition.
No suspects have been identified at this time, and Crime Stoppers is offering a re- ward of up to $3,000 for infor- mation that will lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in this crime.

According to sources, Watson was the first in his family to attend college, and was stabbed trying to protect his girlfriend. He and Horne are both natives of Miami, Florida.
USF head football coach, Willie Taggart said, “We are
deeply saddened and stunned by the tragic loss of Elkino Watson and the injuries suf- fered by Desmond Horne. “Kino” was a tremendous young man with a great smile and a big heart who was very much loved by our USF foot- ball family and will be sorely missed Our hearts hurt for his daughter and his family. The thoughts and prayers of our team and our University are with the Watson family as they deal with this terrible loss and with Desmond Horne to make a full recovery.
Watson played in 45 games during his USF career, missing only three. As a senior last year, he recorded 36 tack- les, including 7-1/2 for losses, with two sacks and a forced fumble. As an undrafted free agent, Watson spent some time in the Chicago Bears minicamp earlier this year.
A 21-year-old Tampa woman is currently being held in connection with a traffic ac- cident that left a man dead. The accident took place last Tues- day.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Ms. Jas- mine Crandall, of Tampa, was arrested on Saturday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death and having no valid driver’s license.
Last Tuesday morning, 93- year-old William John Thompson, of Tampa, was crossing E. Busch Blvd., at 28th Street, shortly before 11 a.m. Thompson, who was not in a crosswalk, was struck by a 1995 gold colored Saturn. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the accident.
Thompson was trans- ported to a local hospital in critical condition. He died the following evening.
Later on Tuesday, police lo- cated a vehicle matching the

description of the hit and run vehicle abandoned on the side of the street at 18th Street and Fairbanks. It had damage to the hood and windshield, po- lice said.
Ms. Crandall is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on a bond of $22,500.
No Arrests Made In Shootings
The 2015 year started off with a bang, as law enforcement agencies found themselves busy in January investigating nine fatal shootings.
Within the last two weeks, a Riverview woman was shot an- swering her door, a woman was robbed at gunpoint when a car blocked her path, a bicyclist was shot riding in his neighborhood, and a man was shot trying to flee an armed robber.
As of the end of July, law enforcement agencies were investi- gating 46 homicides. Of the 46, 20 arrests have been made.
Trio In Jacksonville Shooting Believed To Have Fled To Tampa
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for three peo- ple who may have fled to Tampa and are wanted in con- nection with a murder.
Authorities said the victim died after being shooting at an apartment complex Saturday afternoon. The suspects, two women and a man, were re- portedly traveling in a silver Kia Optima.
Anyone who has informa- tion as to the identity of the suspects is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500.
The victim’s name was not released.

Teenager Arrested In Clearwater Shooting Death
Clearwater Police reported that a 17-year-old suspect in a fatal shooting has been ar- rested.
The shooting occurred 8 p.m. Thursday in a home in the 1400 block of Hamlet Avenue.
Police said an officer on pa- trol witnessed a commotion at the house and when she went to the house to investigate, she found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said the suspect had fled after the shooting, but of- ficers searched the area and found him hiding in a ditch. The gun used in the shooting was also recovered.
Investigators report that the suspect and victim know each other and the shooting
victim, who did not live at the home, bean arguing when the altercation turned violent.
The victim was later identi- fied as 37-year-old Davtara Grayson.
Charged in the shooting death was Sean Patel.
