Board Elects New Chairperson, Swears In Members

Earlier this month, Hills- borough County voters se- lected three new members to serve on the Hillsborough County School Board. Last week, those new members were sworn into office. One other member was re-elected to serve on the board.
During the meeting the board also voted on the Chair- person and Vice Chairperson to lead the organization for the next year. Ms. Tamara Shamburger was chosen unanimously to serve as Chair- person.
Ms. Melissa Snively was re-elected to serve her second 4-year term. She was chosen to serve in the capacity of Vice Chairperson.
The newly elected mem- bers of the board are: Steve Cona, III, Dr. Stacy Hahn, and Ms. Karen Perez.
Cona will serve as the rep- resentative of District 1. He is the president of the Associated Builders and Contractors Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.

Dr. Stacy Hahn will serve as the representative for District 2. Dr. Hahn is a long- time educator and proponent for children in Hillsborough County.
Ms. Karen Perez was elected representative of Dis- trict 6. She is a social worker at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital.
Dr. Hahn and Ms. Perez will serve for the next 4 years. Cona will serve for two years. He was elected to complete the term of Ms. Susan Valdes, who was elected to serve as a member of the State House of Representatives.

Sickle Cell Families Support Group Meeting
The Sickle Cell Families Support Group Meeting will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 10 a. m. – 12 noon. The meeting will be held at Riverfront Park, 1001 N. Boulevard, Tampa (33606). The meeting is sponsored by the non-profit group, En- hance the Chance.
All families who are dealing with Sickle Cell situations are in- vited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Greenridge And Delaney Creek Assoc. Meeting
Greenridge and Delaney Creek Association monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 7 p. m. The meeting is held the first Tuesday of each month at the Winston Park Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, 7605 Destin Drive, Tampa, 33619. All concerned residents are invited to attend.

Fighting Diabetes
The Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG), the Florida Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, is inviting all churches to a community meeting focused on diabetes education.
The meeting will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 6 p.m., at The Children’s Board, 1002 E. Palm Ave in Tampa. The purpose of the meeting is to learn how your church can
provide Diabetes Self-Management Education classes for your members and the community.
Church leaders, representatives, and Health Ministries are en- couraged to attend this informational meeting.
