LocalRobert W. Saunders, Sr. Branch Library Celebrates 2nd Anniversary
The Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Branch Library celebrated its 2nd anniversary with a special event on Monday, August 21, 2017.
Among those who spoke on how they knew Saunders were: Mary James, Fred Hearns, Howard Harris, Clarence Fort and Robert Saunders, Jr. (Photos by Julia Jackson)
Robert W. Saunders, Jr. talked about his dad and how every day was a day of history. His mom and dad always talked about history and doing more in the community.
Principal Librarian at the Saunders Library, Carrie Hurst introduced the speakers.
Mary James, President of the Ada T. Payne Friends of Urban Libraries gave reflections of Mr. Saunders.
Howard Harris also gave reflections on his re- membrance of Mr. Saunders.
Clarence Fort talked about the times he knew Mr. Saunders. As a young man he was president of the NAACP Youth Council.
Cherylene Levy was a guest o the program.
Harriett Ellenton was also a guest of the program.
Library Board Member, David Hol- lis at the program.
