Cavaliers Mum On Isaiah Thomas' Hip Injury During Introduction
ISAIAH THOMAS
While introducing their ac- quisitions from the summer's blockbuster trade, the Cleve- land Cavaliers were reluctant to discuss Isaiah Thomas' health during a news confer- ence Thursday.
"To be fair to Isaiah, we're not going to address any specifics on his hip injury,"

Pryor After Scuffle
With Teammate
The Cleveland Browns re- leased Calvin Pryor when the safety did not heed coach Hue Jackson's order to walk away from a scuffle be- fore practice on Thursday, according to a league source familiar with the incident.
Pryor and receiver Ri- cardo Louis were involved, but Pryor drew the ire of Jackson when he did not stop as ordered, the source said.
Jackson declined to dis- cuss details other than to say that Pryor had been re- leased. Jackson called what happened an internal matter.
"Things happen," Jack- son said. "We move on."

going to put a timetable on it." Altman added: "We're
not going to rush it, at all." While Altman was careful not to put any expectations on a return date, Cavs coach Ty- ronn Lue revealed that Thomas will miss the start of the season. That would mean Thomas still has at least five to six weeks of rehab ahead of him before he suits up for
Cleveland.
The state of Thomas' hip
during a physical was a holdup in completing the trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Celtics. Boston ulti- mately agreed to send Cleve- land an additional second-round draft pick to complete the swap.
Thomas said he has been getting treatment on the hip every day and working out in the weight room.
"As Koby said, we have a plan set and we're just going to attack that plan and get me back to 100 percent as soon as possible," Thomas said.
Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton says it's "unfair" that former San Francisco 49ers quarter- back Colin Kaepernick isn't on a roster.
"I really think it's unfair," the 2015 NFL MVP said on Tuesday as the Panthers pre- pared for Sunday's opener at San Francisco. "Not to take any [story] or glory away from this game, we're trying to find every way to be pre- pared for the 49ers come Sunday.
"But, in my opinion, do I think Kaepernick is better than some of these starting quarterbacks in this league? Absolutely."
Kaepernick hasn't been on a roster since opting out of his contract following the 2016 season. Many around
the league publicly have said the free-agent quarterback, who led San Francisco to the Super Bowl following the 2012 season and to the NFC Championship the next year, has been blackballed because of his refusal last season to stand for the national an- them.
Newton is the latest high-profile quarterback to say Kaepernick should be on a roster. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers recently specified the reason Kaepernick isn't on a roster is "because of the protests."
"Should he be on a roster? Absolutely," Newton said. "There's no question about it. Ishegoodenoughtobeona roster? Is he good enough to be a starting quarterback? Absolutely.”
