MR. RAYMOND PRUITT, SR.
Mr. Raymond Pruitt, Sr., known by some as ”Nappy Chin-LJ,” age 85, was born on April 7, 1931 in Meridian, Mis- sissippi to the union of Otis and Queen Esther Pruitt. He moved to Tampa, FL in 1952. Raymond was blessed with 5 sons and 1 daughter. He worked for Florida Steel Corp. and local Union #1207, from which he eventually retired. His memories will forever and always be embraced by his family, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Otis and Queen Esther Pruitt; and step- mother, Rosa Curry Pruitt; wife, Hattie Mae Pruitt; 3 sons, Raymond, Ronald and Adolpus Pruitt, all of Tampa; 3 broth- ers, Otis Pruitt, Jr., Leroy Pruitt and LJ Curry; sister, Betty Pruitt Dyess.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Donald Pruitt of Meridian, MS, and Kelvin Pruitt (Loretha) of Tampa; daughter, Debra Sher- man Dabney of Tampa; sisters, Dorothy Pruitt Clark of Kirk- wood, MO, and Elouise Pruitt of Meridian, MS; brother-in- law, Robert Wade of Jackson, MS; sisters-in- law, Diane Pruitt of Baltimore, MD, and Eunice Hearn of Los Angeles, CA; a host of grandchildren, whom are, Cassandra Brown, Katisha L. Butler (Keith), Sherika Pruitt, Marcus Pruitt, Lashonda Knight, Perys Pruitt, Karawn Pruitt, Ranita Knight, Kaishawn Pruitt, Darnell (Bubba) Stephenson, Norma Pruitt, Nadia Pruitt, Mckayla Pruitt, Kelvin Pruitt, Jr., Ray- mond Pruitt, Briana Pruitt, Perys Pruitt, Nyree Pruitt, all of Tampa, Donte Pruitt of Atta- pulgus, GA; great- grandchil- dren, Janisha, Demario, Anthony, An Quan, Yosef, Kaleb, Haven, Raniya; devoted nieces, Diane Nicholson, Irene Hearn, Renee Perry (Brad- ford); dear friends, Wilbert Long, Brent Jenkins, Loretta Sanders, all of Tampa, and Danny Norman of Ft. Laud- erdale; and a host of other sor- rowing relatives and friends.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 12:30 p. m. at Gar- den of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa. Repast following serv- ices at 3502 N. 34th Street Tampa, 33610. The family will receive friends on Friday, No- vember 18, 2016, between 6 – 8 p. m. at Garden of Memories Funeral Home.
The Winter Haven Police Department is attempting to identify a man who took a gumball machine from a restaurant. The theft took place last Friday morning.
According to police, be- tween 11 a.m. and 12 noon on November 4th, a man walked into the Sakura Restaurant, 787 3rd Street, SW, and told the employees he was there to service the gumball ma- chine. The employees al- lowed the man access to the machine.
The man then told the em- ployees he needed to take the machine off the property in order to make the necessary repairs. Unaware of the true owners of the machine, the employees allowed him to do so.
The man then left the busi- ness in an unidentified vehi- cle. The machine is valued at $800, police said.

A new state-of-the-arts multiplex movie theater is slated to open in the near fu- ture. The new multiplex is awaiting the safety certificate from Hillsborough County.
Located near Progress Vil- lage Blvd., the new facility known as Xscape Riverview 14, features a 14-screen mul- tiplex cinema. The theater is expected to be open in time for the first weekend showing of new releases this upcoming weekend.
Each of the auditoriums features a digital projection
system and luxury recliner seats. The auditoriums are also equipped with a Dolby Atmos surround sound sys- tem.
The theater is located across from The Enclave at Tranquility Lake Apartments.
The Goodrich Quality the- aters have also constructed a 14-screen multiplex in the area. It is located on Gibson- ton Drive and should be opened by Christmas. This fa- cility will also have the reclin- ing seats and a 80-f00t wide screen.
Clerk Struck In Head With Cash Drawer During Robbery
A clerk was struck in the head with a cash drawer after he refused to comply during a robbery last Thursday. The Clearwater Police Depart- ment is seeking the public’s help in identifying the sus- pect.
According to police, a man walked into the Speedway Convenience Store, 2577 Harn Blvd., shortly after 5 a.m. When the man de- manded money from the male clerk, the clerk refused. At that point, the man grabbed the cash drawer and attempted to leave the store. The clerk attempted to stop him at the door and the sus- pect hit the clerk in the head
with the cash drawer.
The unidentified clerk,
who is 56-years-old, was transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was treated and released for the injury.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male with a thin build, between 5’10” and 6’ tall. He was last seen wearing gray pants, a green hooded sweatshirt, and had a green shirt covering his face.
