Clay Mathews
   Signs Two-
Year Deal
With Rams
The Dallas Cowboys are signing wide receiver Ran- dall Cobb, and they appear to be overpaying for him.
Cobb is getting a one- year, $5 million deal. He should fit in as Dallas’ slot re- ceiver, replacing Cole Beasley.
Cobb is 28 and well re- moved from his best seasons. His 91-catch, 1,287-yard sea- son with 12 touchdowns came in 2014. He hasn’t re- ally come close to duplicating that since. In fact, he hasn’t
   CLAY MATTHEWS
Clay Matthews will be playing for a team other than the Green Bay Packers for the first time in his career.
Matthews is signing with the Los Angeles Rams. The deal is for two years and re- portedly pays Matthews up to $16.75 million.
Vontaze Burfict Signs With Raiders
VONTAZE BURFICT
The Oakland Raiders are going full-on bad-boy football in 2019.
The Raiders are signing Vontaze Burfict to a one- year deal. The deal is worth around $5 million including incentives.
The deal came together quickly after Burfict was re- leased by the Cincinnati Ben- gals on Monday. Cincinnati had tried to trade him before releasing him, so teams prob- ably knew he might hit the market and were prepared for that possibility.
There are risks for Oakland in making this deal. Not only does Burfict have a reputa- tion for being one of the dirt- iest players in the league, but his concussion history is a major concern. The 28-year- old linebacker has seven doc- umented concussions in his career. He has not played in more than 11 games in a sea- son since 2014.
In Oakland, Burfict will reunite with defensive coordi- nator Paul Guenther.
RANDALL COBB
topped 653 yards and 4 touchdowns over the past three seasons.
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers signed former Green Bay Packers safety Kentrell Brice to a one-year deal on Monday as they continued to add pieces to what will be a new-look defense in 2019.
Brice (5-11, 200) comes to Tampa after three seasons in Green Bay in which he ap- peared in 36 games and made 14 starts, including 10 last season.
He made the team as an undrafted rookie out of Louisiana Tech in 2016, playing in all 16 games in his first season. Injuries cut his second campaign short but he returned last year to play in 14 contests and record 50 tackles, one sack and two passes defensed. In all, he recorded 91 stops, one tackle
for loss, one sack, one inter- ception and six passes de- fensed with Green Bay.
Brice is the sixth player from another team that Tampa Bay has signed since free agency started last Wednesday, and the third defender on that list. The Buccaneers previously inked linebackers Deone Bucan- non and Shaq Barrett.
Under new Head Coach Bruce Arians and Defen- sive Coordinator Todd Bowles, the team is trying to improve a defense that fin- ished 27th in yards allowed and 31st in points allowed in 2018. Bowles has tradition- ally coordinated a 3-4 base defense but has shown quite a bit of versatility with his packages and schemes.
Bruce Irvin Agrees
To One-Year Deal
With Panthers
Bruce Irvin will be play- ing for his third team in two years when the 2019 season begins, as the veteran defen- sive end has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Car- olina Panthers.
Irvin intends to sign a one-year deal with Carolina.
Irvin spent the first four years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a key part of the “Legion of Boom” defense and helped the team win a Super Bowl. He then signed with the Oak- land Raiders following the

2015 season, and they tried to trade him last year before re- leasing him.
     Dolphins, Cowboys
Discussing Robert
Quinn Trade
The Miami Dolphins are looking to part ways with Robert Quinn a year after acquiring him in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, and the Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams showing interest in the defensive end.
The Dolphins are allowing Quinn to meet with the Cowboys on Tuesday, as the two sides have been dis- cussing a potential trade.
Quinn is scheduled to count $12.5 million against the salary cap in 2019, and Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported on Monday that the Dolphins are willing to eat some money
ROBERT QUINN
to trade him. They already paid him a $1.12 million ros- ter bonus that was due last week, so that money will be gone if they move the 29- year-old.
