She join forces with The Avengers Nick Fury (Samuel Jack- son) to stop the aliens from ruling the world. The movie started good, but later fizzled because the vil- lians were average fighters. A Madea Family Reunion - A family reunion becomes a hilarious nightmare as Madea (Tyler Perry) and the crew ( Aunt Bam-Cassie Davis, Hattie- Patrice Lovely and Joe, Brian, Heathrow-Tyler Perry) travel to backwoods Georgia, where they find themselves unexpectedly planning a funeral that might unveil scandalous family secrets. This is definitely Tyler Perry's funniest Madea. Must -see for laughs. Made $59M (budget- N/A)- ****
Alita: Battle Angel - A deactivated, female cyborg is put together and goes on a bounty hunter quest to find out who she is. A well-trained Warrior. Director Robert Rodriquez and James Cameron (Avatar) put together a visual masterpiece that everyone should see. Check it out in the IMAX theaters. Made $82M-U.S./ foreign-$312M- (budget- $170M)- classic
What Men Want - A woman (Taraji P. Henson) is passed over for partner at a sport agency when she accidently falls on her head. She wakes up and later find out she has the ability to hear men thoughts. Produced by St Pete's Will Packer, this film was funny early on but later dragged on a little too long. Made $53 / U.S. foreign-$11M (budget- $20M)- ***
The Upside - Based on a true story, this drama/comedy is about a unemployed man, Dell (Kevin Hart), hired by a a wealthy man with quadriplegia, Phillip, (Bryan Cranston-Breaking Bad) and his assistant, Yvonne (Nicole Kidman). Dell must fight through the difficulties of taking care of Phillip. Director Neil Burger did a great job of mixing Hart and Cranston learning to deal with each other faults. Really enjoyed this film. This might be one of Hart's best movies. Must- see for Hart and Cranston fans. Made - $105M U.S./ foreign-$12M (budget-$37M)- ****
Escape Room - Six strangers ( Taylor Russell, Deborah Ann Woll, Jay Ellis, Logan Miller Tyler Labine) find themselves, in a $10,000 contest with deadly circumstances beyond their control. The strangers must use their wits to survive the escape rooms. Director Adam Robitel did a great job keep- ing this thriller entertaining. Must see for the non-stop action scenes. Made - $56M/ foreign $70M U.S. (budget -$9M)- ****
Aquaman (2018) - Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) must come to grip that he is the heir to the un- derwater kingdom of Atlantis. First, he must get through his evil brother King Orm (Patrick Wilson) who thinks he's responsible for killing their mother (Nicole Kidman) and the revengeful Manta ( Yahya Abdul-Matteen). Definitely surprised this DC film had a great storyline and off the chain action. Must- see for action fans. Made - $334M- U.S./ foreign - $812M (budget-$200M)- *****
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Director Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey direct a fresh new animation straight out of Brooklyn of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) who becomes the Spider Man of his reality and crosses path with other Spider Counterparts to stop evil villains who want to destroy all reality. Must admit this was excellent. The soundtrack was banging and the action was on point. Should win an Oscar for best animation. Must see for kids and adults. Made - $189M U.S./foreign - $181M- (budget-$90M)--Classic -five stars.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) - A chronicle of the years on how the iconic group Queen rose to fame that led to the legendary appearance at the LIVE AID in 1985. Lead singer Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) was one of the best singer, songwriter and performer’s of all-time. Director Bryan Singer did a great job keeping the film all about the music. Made $215M- U.S. / foreign - $664M (budget- $52M)- ****
Glass - Security guard David Dunn (Bruce Willis) uses his supernatural abilities to track psycho Kevin Wendell Crump (James McAvoy) and evil mastermind Mr. Glass (Samuel Jackson). Director M. Night Shyamalan (Signs) may have made a mistake combining all three characters in this movie. McVoy remarkable acting 7 different personalities can carry a movie by himself. Started out fast and good, but later fizzled with the other cast getting too much film time. 2hrs/ 9mins. Made - $110M- U.S./ foreign- - $135M (budget -$20M)- ***
Ralph Breaks The Internet - Six years later with the Box office mega-hit ‘Wreck-It- Ralph, Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) and Vanelope (voice by Sarah Silverman) discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure, the Internet. This animation was made for adults. Kids will enjoy, but not understand the sophistication of the Internet. Still worth seeing. A little long, 2hrs/10mins- Made - $200M/ foreign- $324M- (budget- $175M)- ***1/2
