 1,400 Community Members Expected To Attend HOPE Meeting
Deadline Nears To Register To Vote In Runoff Election

Sharon Streater, Exec- utive Director of HOPE (Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality), said 1,400 community mem- bers are expected to unite and attend the “HOPE NE- HEMIAH ACTION” Meeting.
The meeting will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, 7 p. m. – 8:30 p. m., at Bible- Based Fellowship Church, 4811 Ehrlich Rd., Carroll- wood, 33624.
The Co-Presidents of HOPE, who will be chairing the meeting, are Rev. An- thony White, Pastor of Bible-Based Fellowship Church, Carrollwood, and Fr. John Tapp, Pastor of

Ms. Streater shares some figures:
Did you know? 104,540 families in Hillsborough County pay
over 1/2 their income on housing; 74,530 of these families struggle with very low incomes, 50% and below Area Median Income.
Also, did you know? 6,500 Hillsborough County residents are in State Prison; 3,100 in the County Jail; 30-40% of people in jail have serious mental ill- ness; and 60-80% have co- occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
She adds however, there are solutions! Several per- sons have been invited to share leads to solutions dur- ing the meeting.
Attending so far to re- spond to the proposals are: Hillsborough County Com- missioners Pat Kemp (Dis- trict 4, Countywide, Vice Chair), Kimberly Over- man (District 7, County- wide) and Mariella Smith (District 5, Countywide); State Attorney Andrew Warren, Chief Judge Fi- carrotta, Public Defender Julianne Holt, and Tampa Police Lieutenant Rojka.

Monday, March 25th, is the last day residents can register to vote in the up- coming City of Tampa Mu- nicipal Election.
Voters will be called upon on April 23rd to select a Mayor and 3 City Council members. Only individuals living within the boundaries of the City can vote in this election.
Those who are already registered, but wish to make changes can update their in- formation, such as changing their names or updating their address.
Those wishing to request a Vote By Mail ballot can do so by calling (813) 744-5900, or by visiting the website at www.VoteHillsborough.org.
The Candidates
During the runoff election voters will choose between Jane Castor and David Straz for Mayor.
Joseph Citro will take on Walter L. Smith, II, for the District 1 Seat.
In the District 3 race, John Dingfelder will face Stephen Lytle.
Orlando Gudes will compete against Jeffrey Rhodes for the District 5 Seat.
Early Voting
Early Voting for the
runoff election will begin on Sunday, April 14th and end on Saturday, April 20th.
The seven Early Voting locations are as follows:

West Tampa Branch Library, 2312 W. Union Street, Tampa, 33607.
What To Bring
Voters will be required to provide one or two forms of identification. Acceptable identification includes: Florida Driver License; Florida ID Card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles; U. S. Passport; Debit or Credit Card; Military ID; Student ID; Retirement Cen- ter ID; Neighborhood Asso- ciation ID; Public Assistance ID; or Veteran Health ID (is- sued by VA).
You may also use your Concealed Weapon License (issued pursuant to s. 790.06); or Government Employee ID.
If your photo ID does not include your signa- ture, you will be asked to provide another ID that has your signature.
Individuals without proper identification may still vote a provisional ballot, which will later be evaluated by a canvassing board for el- igibility.
Individuals who choose to wait until Elec- tion Day on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, will be re- quired to vote at his or her assigned precinct. The voting precincts will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
