What Has Blind Faith Gotten Us?
In these days of precedent changing times I would ask us all, what has blind faith and allegiance to political parties and elected offi- cials gotten us as African Americans?
From where I sit the answer is not only easy, but apparent in the lack
of behavioral evidence and that is, NOT FAR ENOUGH!
People have gotten quite adept in procuring the African American vote by placating to cer- tain Community Leaders while themselves not showing with evidence an understanding of or
addressing the aggregate needs and expectation of the African American Community with meas- urable efforts and re- sults. Or, is it only the African American Vote that they care about?
I ask you two things. Firstly, what are the in- dividuals who are push-
ing candidates getting for their lobby? And sec- ondly, what in the candi- dates’ past would make you have faith in their commitment to improve our status and plight as an aggregate?
I ask you as valued voters to reach out to or- ganizations such as the Hillsborough County NAACP (813-234-8683) and the Urban League (813-695-7422) to gain a picture of the candi- date’s desire and com- mitment to the African American Community. And by commitment I am in no way giving a candidate credit for a commitment to Blacks for buying a seat/table for an event. I am asking and demanding that at a minimum, candidates provide in writing a let-
ter of support for African American Organizations’ Missions and Goals when queried.
To ask for such a Let- ter of Support and to not be responded to is not only telling, but de- plorable in these days and times; least alone for this 2020 election sea- son.
We need everyone, and especially our elected leaders, to have a committed effort to our African American Com- munity to gain true and total equity. A stronger, vibrant and more re- silient African American Community makes for a stronger United States of America. Is that not the goal?

Former President Barack Obama Endorses Tampa Native In Texas House Race
Former U. S. President Barack Obama announced on his social media platforms this week the endorsements of several Democrats who are candidates for office.
One of those he endorsed is Likeithia “Keke” Williams, a candidate for the House of Representatives in Texas.
The native of Tampa (Col- lege Hill Homes) retired from the military on Valentine’s Day 2019, as a Captain in the U. S. Army. She immediately knew what she wanted to do – continue to serve her com- munity and her county, and set out to do so.
She began a vigorous campaign and has been mak-

ing her rounds in Killeen, Texas, so that people will know who plans to sit in the seat for District 54.
President Obama en- dorsed a number of candi- dates in Texas, as well as throughout the country, and Ms. Williams was over- joyed to know she was among them.
She won the Democratic Primary and will appear on the ballot with the Republi- can opponent in the Novem- ber General Election.
