USF’s Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Chapter Is Spreading The ‘DONATE LIFE’ Message
Encouraging Fellow Students To Register as Organ & Tissue Donors throughout April
April 1st marks federally sanctioned Donate Life Month. Throughout the month, LifeLink of Florida honors the spirit of those in- dividuals who make trans- plants possible — organ, tissue and eye donors.
The USF chapter (Zeta Xi) of Phi Beta Sigma Frater- nity, Inc. will celebrate na- tional Donate Life Month, to highlight the importance of organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
In partnership with Life- Link® of Florida, the non- profit organization responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for transplant throughout south- west Florida, the fraternity is encouraging students, staff and faculty to learn more about donation and register on Florida’s organ and tissue donor registry at www.Do- nateLifeFlorida.org during Bull Market every week throughout the month.
Zeta Xi has led a statewide charge by vowing to work throughout the month of April to educate students about the benefits

of signing up to be an organ and tissue donor.
LifeLink has partnered with several of the frater- nity’s graduate chapters for several years and is thrilled to continue the partnership with collegiate chapters as more than 50 percent of pa- tients listed for an organ transplant are of multicul- tural descent – Black, His- panic, Asian and Native American. Several of these are groups that Phi Beta Sigma works with on a regu- lar basis to educate about health and wellness.
Last year more than 33,000 lives were saved be- cause someone said “yes” to organ donation, yet 22 peo- ple die every day awaiting a much needed organ trans- plant, and hundreds of thou- sands more could benefit annually from tissue dona- tion.
Visit www.LifeLinkFoun- dation.org to learn more and sign up to be an organ donor.
