USF To Sponsor Program For Alzheimer’s Caregivers
The University of South Florida Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute and Memory Lane Cottage will sponsor “Alzheimer's: What Fam- ily Caregivers Need to Know,” on September 10th. The program will take place at the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, 4001 E. Fletcher Ave. Tampa, FL 33613. The program will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The free program is for Alzheimer’s family caregivers. The topics will include: Understanding Alzheimer’s, Treatment, Commu- nication Strategies, & Managing Behaviors.
Registration is required and lunch will be provided. For those in- terested in registering, call (813) 396-0659.
Charter Review Board Meeting Planned
The 2015 Hillsborough County Charter Review Board (CRB) will review the several Sections of the Charter at its Sept. 1 meeting. Those sections include: Section 4.04 - Limit on Terms; Section 5.04 - Political Activity by Administrator; Section 8.03 – Initiative; Section 9.02 - Con- struction of the Charter; and Section 9.09 – Planning Ethics.
The meeting will take place from 6-8 p.m. at Frederick B. Karl County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in the Commission Boardroom on the second floor.
The CRB is comprised of 14 volunteers appointed by the Board of County Commissioners every five years. Each commissioner appoints two members from his or her district. The board is charged with con- ducting a comprehensive review of the County charter and recom- mending any changes.
Any proposed amendments by the Charter Review Board must be approved by two-thirds of the Charter Review Board members, and then voted upon in a public referendum.
Hillsborough County residents are encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions during a public comment period at the beginning of each meeting, or via the web at www.HiIllsboroughCounty.org/Char- ter.

Hillsborough County Offices And Facilities Close For Labor Day
The majority of Hillsborough County offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.
Closed facilities include the administrative offices of County govern- ment, all libraries, recreation centers, Head Start/Early Head Start cen- ters, and senior centers and nutrition sites.
Regional parks will be open. There will be no solid waste collection (including garbage, recyclables and yard waste) in the unincorporated Hillsborough County Service Area, which also includes Tampa Palms, Hunter’s Green and New Tampa. For those customers whose collection day falls on a Monday, normal service will resume on the next sched- uled day for pickup of those items.
Additional Hillsborough County facilities that will be CLOSED on Labor Day include: The Pet Resource Center. A limited number of an- imal safety and enforcement officers will be on duty for emergencies only via the main number at (813) 744-5660; Fire Rescue Administra- tion and the Fire Marshal’s Office. All emergency services will continue without interruption; and Hillsborough County’s Customer Service Center line, (813) 272-5900.
All County recreation centers, the Bakas Equestrian Center, All Peo- ple’s Life Center, skate parks, and the administrative offices of Parks & Recreation.
