  Tis The Season
Sentinel Readers Share Their Special Christmas Memories
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
As the Christmas holidays approach, we all have memories of special times in our lives. Some have one special year, while for others it covers several years. Sentinel Readers re- sponded to the question: “What Is Your Best Christ- mas Memory?”
Mrs. Bonnye Crews said, “Though I have always loved so much about Christmas —- the carols, the food, the decorations, and the smell of Christmas trees —- nothing was more exciting than going downtown with my family to shop for Christmas gifts at Kress and W.T. Grant.”
Mrs. Chloe Coney said, “My great memories are when my 3 children were small getting up early looking at toys! Watch- ing them go outside to ride bicy- cles! Later getting with 40 family members to eat dinner and exchange gifts! There is nothing like spending time with family during Christmas!”
Danny Green said, “My best Christmas memory was coming home from Germany

while I was in the military to see friends and family. That was my best Christmas gift.”
Howard Harris said, “At about the age of 8-years-old, I was trying to stay awake on Christmas Eve, when I heard jingle bells approaching nearer and nearer and then departing further and further away from my home. As an adult, I realize that it was probably a car with jingle bells since Santa only vis- its after we fall asleep.”
Ross Anderson said, “My best Christmas ever was waking up running downstairs and see- ing a robot under the tree. It walked and talked. Also, it needed 6 double D batteries L.O.L ...”

Rev. Willie Dixon said, “After 48 years in the wilderness I came to my senses, on Decem- ber 25, 1979. I was able to spend Christmas Day with my family, friends and loved ones, and the last Christmas I spent with my

daughter, Wanda, who was murdered on December 24, 1981, the day before Christmas when her mother said, ‘a stranger led her to Christ before her spirit left earth.’ Therefore, I will always have the above dates in my memory! The real reason for the season, Jesus died that we might live!”
