The Weight Of Waiting During The Quarantine
LAKELAND - Waiting creates a weight few cit- izens are speaking of, but many are experienc- ing. Since the Coron- avirus shutdown, our nation entered a quar- antine like we have not known in our modern history.
Cancelled events, physical space between one person to another, wearing a mask or a cloth covering your face, working from home, closing K-12 Schools and Institutions of Higher Education to switch to online classes, visiting love ones by electronic devices; all in an attempt to stay safe and healthy. With self- quarantine strategies in place, the spread of COVID-19 appears to be stabilizing but it’s still a
major concern.
During this time it
isn’t easy to sit and wait to return to some type of normalcy. It has not taken long to feel the multiple degrees of weight placed on fami- lies within. For many families, it is the lack of funds and personal con- tact. The weight comes in the form of depres- sion and frustration en- tering a person's mind.
My prayer is the lead- ers on Capitol Hill will use the resources to fund a vaccine, revamp- ing health systems, and making mental health options readily avail- able. Our nation needs a response to the weight of the wait during this national crisis.
