 Charged With Kidnapping Infant
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping of an infant. The incident took place on Febru- ary 16th.
According to police, 26- year-old Rashad Mann has been charged with grand theft of an auto, kidnapping, and child abuse. He is also facing several other charges.
On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, the one-year-old girl was sleeping in the back of her family’s SUV when a suspect entered the unlocked, running vehicle and drove off with her inside of it.
The child was found at a church about 3 miles from where she had been taken. She was left inside the vehicle. Po- lice were able to obtain video of the suspect at the time the vehicle was stolen.
Meanwhile, detectives were investigating several burglaries of vehicles and other crimes in the area. Rashad Mann, was report- edly linked to other crimes and was arrested on March 3rd. He has been in the Hills- borough County Jail since that time.
Mann was initially ar- rested on unrelated charges. Earlier this month, deputies in HCSO’s District II were inves- tigating several daytime bur- glaries. During the course of that investigation, a vehicle of interest was identified and Mann and another male were spotted inside the vehicle. As deputies conducted surveil- lance on the two men, they ob-

served the suspects burglariz- ing homes. Mann and An- thony Gaskin were arrested in connection to at least six burglaries throughout Hills- borough County.
While Mann was in cus- tody, detectives investigating the kidnapping had reason to believe that he may be con- nected to their case. They col- lected DNA from Mann and sent it to the Florida Depart- ment of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to be compared to the DNA swabs that were col- lected from the stolen vehicle involved in the kidnapping.
On March 15, the DNA came back as a match.
Sheriff Chad Chronis- ter said, “When Tinnley West was found safe, I told you that was the best possible outcome, but our work wasn’t done yet.
“We needed to make sure her family received the justice they deserve and the person responsible was held account- able. We can now say, with the arrest of Rashad Mann, this is the best possible outcome.”
Keyshawn Johnson and his daughter, Maia.
On Monday former NFL star and Tampa Bay Bucca- neers Keyshawn Johnson took to social media to share he was in the throes of a parent’s worst nightmare, the loss of a child.
“It is with incredible sad- ness that I have to share the news about the passing of my beautiful [d]aughter Maia. Maia, as my first been child, has been the joy of my, and her [m]other Shikiri’s life.” Johnson wrote.
Johnson went on to say his family is “heartbroken” and “devastated” over his 25-year- old daughter’s death. The cause of death was unavailable.
“She came into our lives just as we were both coming of age as adults and has been a constant beloved presence for both of us.”
