Dolphins' Tagovailoa Edges Out Jones In Victory Over Patriots; Next Buffalo Bills
TUA TAGOVAILOA
Tua Tagovailoa grabs the first victory in “Bama on Bama” crime against Mac Jones in the National Foot- ball League.
The second-year quarter- back guided Miami to a 17-16 win over New England at Gillette Stadium. Despite an impressive performance from Jones, Tagovailoa led three scoring drives for the Dol- phins – including two touch- down drives of 80 and 75 yards. He was accurate with the football and targeted seven different receivers. De- Vante Parker totaled 81 yards on four catches, while Jaylen Waddle posted four receptions for 61 yards. He collected his first career score, which was a 3-yard touch- down from Tagovailoa.
As the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagov- ailoa completed 16 of 27 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns to one intercep- tion. He was responsible for a rushing score to conclude Miami’s first touchdown drive.
Tagovailoa’s accuracy was on target in throws to Parker and Waddle. Miami did not have Will Fuller and Preston Williams, so its of- fense should be dynamic when they return.
The Dolphins (1-0) play the desperate Buffalo Bills (0- 1) Sunday at 1 p.m.

In the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles traded their big-money quarterback Carson Wentz to go with Jalen Hurts after he’d started four games as a rookie.
On the first Sunday of the NFL’s 2021 season, it looked like a winning decision.
The Eagles began the campaign with a 32-6 road win against the Atlanta Fal- cons with Hurts putting up a stat line that hadn’t been accomplished in an NFL sea- son-opening game in records dating to the 1950 season.
The former Alabama standout completed 27-of-35 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and no in- terceptions and ran for 62 yards on seven carries.
