Tonya Lewis Helps To Spearhead Community Outreach For Tampa Law Firm

Ms. Lewis joins an illus- trious and widely recognized team, including Managing Attorney, Karina Perez, former State Senator, Arthenia Joyner, who served the people of Florida for more than a decade in the Legislature, both as a State Representative and State Senator, and is the longest practicing Black female lawyer in the history of Florida, and former State Representative Sean Shaw.
Vanguard Attorneys has become well-known in the Tampa Bay area from engag- ing in a wide variety of com- munity service and philanthropic activities and the addition of Ms. Lewis marks an even greater com- mitment to engaging in com- munity service initiatives.

Law Firm
On Saturday, June 22, 2019, the Florida National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) sections held an in- formational meeting at the Robert Saunders Library. Members from these cities and areas were in attendance for a half day: Miami-Dade County, Broward County, Daytona Beach, FAMU Colle- giate, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, and St. Petersburg.
Members came together to be enlightened on the de- tails of organizing into a state mechanism of NCNW. This effort is being led by the Florida leadership team: Ms. Janice Mathis, Esq., Ms. Rachel Oliver, and Mrs. Tee Solomon (Chairman).
Those in attendance were honored to have in their midst the National President, Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole (who brought greetings and an inspirational message), as well as Ms. Janice Mathis, Executive Director at the NCNW Headquarters, who facilitated a workshop on Community Awareness.
Facilitators (State Con- vener of New Jersey, Ms. Olivia Smith, and Mrs. Diane Larche,’ NCNW Na- tional Membership Co-chair- man) provided insight on organizing and how such or- ganization is coordinated in their respective states.
Dr. Paulette Walker, 25th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, delivered an in- teractive workshop on Lead- ership, and the meeting presider, Tee Solomon, closed out the session with a
Sisterly Relations activity that left the attendees on a posi- tive, high note to the tune of Ben E. King’s song, “Stand by Me.”
Hostesses from the Tampa Metropolitan Section and the St. Petersburg Metropolitan Section were a key compo- nent to the successful flow of the meeting. Hostesses were: Cynthia Glenn, Ethel Robinson, Gwendolyn Fields, Thelma Bruce, Valerie Williams, Be- linthia Berry, Kay Berrien, Audrey Miller, Rosa Webster, Lisa Fikes, and Christy Jacobs.
Others who volunteered behind-the-scene services for the success of the meeting were: Eula Johnson, Willie Mae Lane, Valerie Whitney, Emily Rogers, Richard Woodbury, Trevor Solomon, Brenda Greenway, Carrie Hurst and Library Staff, Anna Clark, Rosalie Jones, De- lores Gambrell, Doris Scott, Sonja Wise, Holly Frazier, Marsha Lewis Brown, Minnie Sullivan, Stephanie Bus-Morrison, Jasmine Clark, Kruzshander Scott, Keyshonna Miller Mc- Neil, Archie’s Bar-be-que & Catering, and Winn Dixie. The chairman is most appreciative!
Mrs. Colleen Smith is the President of Tampa Metro, Ms. Thelma Bruce is the President of St. Pete Metro. Mrs. Tee Solomon is the chairman of the Florida State NCNW Leadership team.
