Justin Evans Expects To Play In Final Preseason Game
JUSTIN EVANS Buccaneers safety Justin
Evans returned to the field with his teammates on Sun- day. It was a long road back after injuring a foot in a Dec. 2 game against Carolina.
“It feels great to be back out there,” Evans said. “[Coming back] during OTAs was the plan, but it didn’t come through. It took a little extra time, but I’m back healthy now.”
Evans has dealt with in- juries, from his toe to his heel, to both feet. It took what seemed like forever before he was out of a walking boot and healthy enough for the Bucs to remove him from the physi- cally unable to perform list.
“It was just one thing after another,” Evans said. “Just this toe, and this injury on my feet. I always had just some lit- tle nicks, and then over time throughout last season, throughout playing, the foot- ball wear and tear just got worse and worse. That’s what I’ve been dealing with.”
Evans, a second-round choice in 2017, expects to play about a quarter of Thursday’s preseason game against the Cowboys. He wants the snaps to get a feel for the game speed again.
“I’d love to get him in the game to start getting his eyes trained in this defense, be- cause it’s so different than when he’s played,” Bucs coach Bruce Arians said. “It’s good to see him out there.”

$24.8M From Retiring
QB Andrew Luck
Despite the fact that they could have recouped $24.8 million from their former quarterback, the Indianapolis Colts have reached a financial settlement with Andrew Luck and will not take back any of the money they are owed, league sources told ESPN.
The Colts essentially are telling Luck to keep it all, even though it is within their rights to reclaim the money.
The settlement was reached late last week, ac- cording to a source familiar with the talks.
Luck, 29, could have owed the Colts $12.8 million as a prorated portion of the $32 million signing bonus the Colts gave him when he

signed his five-year extension in 2016, and another $12 mil- lion in roster bonuses he was paid in March. But Indi- anapolis waived its right to recoup the money and is al- lowing Luck to keep it all, after the poundings he has taken and all he has given to the franchise. It is, in an offi- cial way, his parting gift.
Antonio Brown Files A New Helmet Grievance
It’s time for Antonio Brown Helmet Grievance 2.0.
Per a source with knowl- edge of the situation, the Raiders receiver has filed a new grievance regarding the league’s decision to prevent him from wearing a Schutt AiR Advantage helmet that is less than 10 years old.
Last Monday, a neutral, independent arbitrator found that Brown could not wear a helmet that is more than 10 years old; NOCSAE won’t re- certifiy any helmet, regardless of model, that is more than 10 years old. Since then, Brown’s representatives identified an obvious loop- hole. Because the Schutt AiR Advantage hasn’t been banned generally by the NFL, he should be permitted to

wear one that is less than 10 years old, and that can be re- certified by NOCSAE.
The NFL did not include the Schutt AiR Advantage within the list of 11 helmet models banned in 2018. The NFL also gave players wear- ing banned helmets a one- year grace period, allowing them to continue to wear the banned helmet while transi- tioning to a new model.
