Kailyn was born to Chan- tha and David Gilbert in May 2004, in Tampa, Florida. Kailyn was always a very en- ergetic child, and this energy progressed into a love of bas- ketball. Her first team was a children’s league, The Skills Center.
This eventually led to AAU teams. Kailyn excelled at basketball from the very be- ginning. After completing middle school, she completed 9th & 10th grades at Tampa Preparatory School, and con- tributed to a winning season for the school in both years she was there.
She then enrolled in online high school and also enrolled to play girls basketball at Seffner Christian for the 11th grade.
Kailyn will now be attend- ing IMG Academy in Braden- ton for the 12th grade. Kailyn had the opportunity to attend IMG in the 9th grade, however, her parents were not ready to let her go at the time as this required mov-
ing to Bradenton. She would have been away from home at such a young age and away from her little brother, Zack whom she prayed to God to send to her at 8 years of age. Since this school year would be her last high school year, her parents have decided to allow her to attend.
Kailyn has already com- mitted to the University of Arizona to play college bas- ketball upon graduation and will receive a 4-year basket- ball scholarship. She was highly sought after by 50 plus college teams, but decided the University of Arizona was the best choice for her.
Kailyn is ranked #27 in the nation for Girls High School Basketball. Her family is so proud of her dedication and accomplishments thus far and look forward to many more years of excellence.
We love you! Our Super- star!
