FAMU MMERI To Host Virtual Forum On Medical Cannabis For Kids: What Parents Need To Know
Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) Medical Marijuana Ed- ucation and Research Initiative (MMERI) will host discussion on Medical Cannabis for Kids: What Parents Need to Know in a Conversations on Cannabis Virtual Forum at noon, Thurs- day, August 26, 2021. The forum will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.
In this forum, host Heidi Otway will facilitate a discus- sion with board-certified pedia- trician, Dr. David Berger, M.D., the founder of Wholistic ReLeaf, and Andrea Ander- son, a cannabis mom and advo- cate, whose son uses pediatric cannabinoids.
“The use of medical cannabis in children is rapidly growing, and is seen as a viable option for many children. Re- search indicates that medical cannabis poses as many benefits for children as for adults and it can help children with painful long-term illnesses, like epilepsy, AIDS, and cancer,” said MMERI Executive Direc- tor, Dr. Patricia Green-Pow- ell.
The Conversations on Cannabis Virtual Forum is de- signed to educate, learn, and talk with minorities about the basics of marijuana for medical use and the unlawful use of marijuana.
As with all medications, those considering medical cannabis as treatment for them- selves or their dependents should know what medical mar- ijuana is, how it works, what conditions can be treated, and how to best coordinate care.
