Snoop Dogg Says He Lashed Out At Gayle King To Protect Vanessa Bryant And Kobe's Family
People: Rihanna Receives Standing
Ovation For Powerful Speech About
Inclusion At NAACP Image Awards
Snoop Dogg is speaking out about why he publicly criti- cized Gayle King. In a preview of the upcoming episode of Facebook Watch's Red Table Talk, the 48-year-old rapper re- veals what went into his decision to bash the journalist after she asked one of Kobe Bryant's friends about the 2003 sexual assault allegation against the late athlete.
"I wanted to make sure what I said was said the right way and I wanted to make sure that the message was across. That we love Kobe and be respectful of Vanessa and those kids. That's what the whole intent was," Snoop says. "To protect that women and them babies over there, because she's still griev- ing. And let's give them that re- spect."
In an earlier clip from the episode, co-host Jada Pinkett Smith reveals her reaction to Snoop's comments.
"When you first came out and you said what you said, you

“I’m lucky I was able to start at the Clara Lionel Foundation in 2012 and if there’s anything that I’ve learned, it’s that we can only fix this world to- gether,” she said. “We can’t do it divided, I can’t emphasize that enough. We can’t let the desensitivity seep in. The ‘If it’s your problem, it’s not mine. It’s a woman problem, it’s a black people’s problem, it’s a poor people problem.’ “
Rihanna received applause throughout the speech from the crowd, which included ac- tresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Angela Bassett.
“I mean how many people in this room have colleagues and partners and friends from other races, sexes, religions, show of hand,” the star added. “Well then you know they

know, in regards to Gayle, my heart dropped. I felt like not only were you talking to Gayle, but you were talking to me," Smith says. "I was like, 'Oh no, Snoop has now taken his power flow away from me, away from Wil- low, away from my mother... Not Snoop!' Right?"
Earlier this month, King faced backlash when a snippet of what she called her "wide-rang- ing interview" with Lisa Leslie was released without context. In the clip, King asked Leslie, a former pro basketball player and
Bryant's friend, about the alle- gation against the late NBA player. Bryant, as well as with his 13-year-old daughter Gi- anna and seven others, died in a helicopter crash last month.
In response to that line of questioning, Snoop shared an expletive-filled video of himself disparaging King on Instagram, and threatening, "How dare you try to tarnish my motherf**king homeboy's reputation, punk motherf**ker. Respect the fam- ily and back off, b**ch, before we come get you."

Kendrick Lamar And The Weeknd Sued For Allegedly
Jacking 'Pray For Me' From Rock Band
Anchored neatly on the Black Panther soundtrack, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd’s 2018 collaboration “Pray For Me” went on to be a Billboard 100 Top 10 hit.
However, according to TMZ, a Brooklyn-based rock band named Yeasayer says the two hitmakers swiped their secret sauce via a 2007 record titled “Sunrise.”
The legal documents re- portedly specify the band knew their sample was stolen, due to a “distinctive choral perform- ance” that was “comprised of male voices singing in their highest registers, with ani- mated, pulsing vibrato.”

sample was sped up with the “intent to conceal the infringe- ment” and was used through- out “Pray for Me” up to eight separate times.
Yeasayer is not only re- questing an injunction that blocks further sales and airplay
of “Pray,” they want all the record’s profits and damages. There are no reports if the song’s producers Doc McKin- ney and Frank Dukes were named in the lawsuit as well.
Pitchfork notes the band broke up in 2019.
