Several years ago, a woman began feeding the homeless while living in Richmond, Vir- ginia. Since relocating to Tampa, she has continued the practice.
Ms. Sarah Noonkester
said she knows about homeless- ness based on her own experi- ences. “I was homeless for 10 years. You don’t know what peo- ple have been through.”
Now, Ms. Noonkester en- joys giving back. And, she is teaching her children, 12-year- old Angel and 9-year-old Wal- ter by example. “I take them with me to help out. I’m teach-

ing them about life and teaching them how to give back. I don’t want them to take anything for granted,” she said.
“I cook everything from scratch and they eat the same thing I feed my family. I always fix nourishing meals for them,” Ms. Noonkester said.
When she sets out to feed the homeless, she doesn’t have any numbers in mind. She serves the meals in the park in the down- town area on the weekends. And, she serves until all of the food is gone.
And the holidays don’t pre- sent a problem for the family. She plans to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving and during the Christmas holidays.

Since its inception, Ross Anderson, founder of Men of Vision has set about helping young men move in a positive direction in their lives. In keeping with this philosophy, Anderson is constantly ex- posing the young men to new ideas and new people.
Earlier this month, the serv-
ice organization held a car- wash fundraiser with two other organizations, the Tampa Police Department and Children with a Vision, Inc.
The fundraiser took place on Saturday, November 5th. It was held at the First Church Of God on Busch Blvd.
Anderson said, “This was our first Law Enforcement Carwash and Fundraiser. It was designed to bridge the gap
between law enforcement and the community it serves.”
Tampa Police Chief Eric Ward was in attendance at the event, along with De- vonte Robinson. Robin- son is an alumnus of Men of Vision and recently joined the Tampa Police Department.
Robinson is credited with organizing the event, Ander- son said.
