Everything Ain’t For Everybody
hen I sat down to write
this column my plan was to give Tampa Bay Bucca- neers wide receiver Mike Evans props for showing his disapproval of a Donald Trump presidency by not standing for the national an- them before last Sunday's foot- ball game against the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, though, my admiration for his quasi-de-
fiance didn't last long.
Less than 48 hours after stat-
ing to the media that he would continue his protest throughout Trump's tenure in office, Evans released a written state- ment apologizing for his behav- ior, asking for forgiveness from the fans and, in essence, prom- ising to be a well-behaved Negro going forward. The would-be, rebellious Kunta firmly em-
bracing his Toby status under the national spotlight.
The sad thing is that they did- n't even have to use a whip to break the young Buc. Just a hard scolding from the Glazer own- ership and, I imagine, the threat of losing all of his expensive toys was enough to get Evans tap- dancing back in line.
Do not get me wrong. I get that it would have been a tremendous sacrifice for Evans to continue what he started, es- pecially considering Trump could be in office for the next four years. But that's something he should have thought about before deciding to conjure his inner Nat Turner.
Instead of faking the role of revolutionary and then tucking his tail, he would have been bet- ter off going the "coon"...er... I
mean, Cam Newton route by pretending like he didn't know what was going on in the world around him. Now, by retreating from his stance and allowing himself to be placed in check, he's made enemies on one side while losing the respect of those who supported him on the other.
The lesson here, of course, is that it's not easy to stand ten- toes down for what you believe. But when you do, you have to be prepared to lose it all because, otherwise, like Evans, you leave yourself vulnerable to manipu- lation by those who oppose your position.
Hopefully, at some point in the future, Evans will find an opportunity to salvage his repu- tation and prove to the world that his spine is composed of more than just egg shells. Until then I suggest that he remain as close to the house as possible and allow those who are un- afraid of the lashing, and who are truly about that life, to en- gage in the real struggle.

onald Trump’s newly named top aide, may look like
the late Bob Keeshan who played the beloved kiddie- TV character Captain Kangaroo, but the comparison stops there.
Steven Bannon doesn’t talk like Capt. Kangaroo . . . not at all. Given the weight of his racist-sexist-anti-Semitic-anti- Muslim, anti-gay rhetoric, it isn’t an uneasy leap of imagina- tion to positively compare Steve Bannon to a sinister character who lived and died 70 years ago named Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels was the propaganda minister for none- other than the equally sinister Adolf Hitter.
Now that a possible positive ID has been established, let us go further by adding Steve Bannon has been named Pres- ident-elect Donald Trump’s new chief strategist . . . the high- est job in the White House next to the President-himself. So, you can understand why we are more than concerned and why German Jews and gays were more than concerned about Joseph Goebbels.
Indeed, we Americans are watching history unfold at a blindingly unbelievable rate. Consequently, the only thing we can guard against is the past. Many critics chuckle at Bannon becoming chief strategist. But they laughed. . . just before Donald Trump became president . . .and Hitler became Fuhrer.
Pray the wrong history does not repeat itself. ##
Pray In Proximity Coverage
mpowered Greetings.
I live in Florida which is a no fault insurance state where we are required to have PIP in- surance. This is important be- cause no matter who is at fault, when you’re in an accident, your insurance company will pay you PIP benefits.
The same can be said when it comes to being spiritually cov- ered by PIP. Spiritual PIP cover- age is when the believer prays in proximity to what they are be- lieving God for.
It’s a concept that may seem aloof to some folks but I was al- ways taught that faith doesn’t make sense. Nor does your senses determine your level of faith. Your faith cannot be pred- icated on what you can see, hear, feel, smell or taste with your natural senses.
I’ve heard the testimonies of those that have prayed in prox- imity. Refrigerators that stopped working and the be- liever didn’t have the financial means to get a new one; they laid hands on the refrigerator, prayed in proximity and the re- frigerator began working again.
There are stories of those that needed a new car, but the credit they had – had issues. Yet
they went to the car lot prayed in proximity of the car they wanted and before it was all said and done, walked off the lot with a new car and still had jacked up credit.
There are those that have been sick on their death bed, couldn’t make it to the church house so the saints would come to them. The saints would gather around them in close proximity and begin to pray them back to health.
Neighborhoods have been transformed by prayer in prox- imity. Believers walk the blocks praying in proximity over their community.
I also have my own testi- monies of answered prayer as it relates to PIP. There is an unex- plainable power from God that seems to intervene on your be- half when you pray in close proximity to the person, place or thing that you are praying for.
My husband went into a di- abetic coma in 1998. He wasn’t expected to live. While he was in the coma I went to the hospital daily and covered him with prayer in proximity. I prayed in his ear. I spoke what God said about him to him. My pastor prayed, along with saints near
and far. We did not waiver, but believed and we received the ex- pected outcome we desired. He’s still living 18 years later. Almost every diagnosis that he was to deal with until death has been rendered null, void and of no ef- fect because it was covered under PIP.
Your prayer in proximity (PIP Coverage) allows you to ex- ercise your God given authority to bring things from the heav- enly realm into the earth. Your PIP coverage releases the grip of the enemy off of your children, your spouse and your family members. Your PIP coverage can cause the storms that are raging in your life to cease.
The word of God says that man should always pray. Based on biblical stories we know that as a believer if we pray in faith we can send the word and it shall be performed. Whatever it is you need God to do, cover it with PIP. I just believe that God honors bold prayers and that our bold prayers honor God. They are a testament to how great He is. No matter who is at fault in any given situation, it’s covered under your PIP policy.

Steve Bannon: Ghost Of Joseph Goebbels
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised!
il Scott-Heron’s 1970 lyrics of the song, “The Revolution
Will Not Be Televised” comes to mind when we reflect upon what is happening in America today. If you don’t know who Gil Scott-Heron is, then you need to Google his name and listen to his albums Pieces of a Man and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. Indeed, the parallels between Trump’s rise to America’s presidency and the rise of Hitler in the late 1930’s is eerie, though forewarned by some Holocaust sur- vivors.
Trump’s campaign and election has unleashed the worst that America has to offer: fear, bigotry, race-hate and at- tacks, murders , and hate chants in our schools. Hate crime monitoring groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation issued recent re- ports on the growth of hate groups and a surge in hate crimes against all groups. Noting an alarming rise in some types of crimes tied to the vitriol of this year’s presidential campaign and the aftermath of terrorists attacks at home and abroad since 2015.
Within the last week, civil rights groups and news organ- izations reported dozens of verbal or physical attacks on mi- norities and others fueled by divisions over the election. The FBI catalogued 5,818 hate crimes in 2015, a rise of 6% over 2014 – including assaults, bombings, threats, and property
destruction against minorities, women, gays, and others. There was a 67% increase in assault, attacks on mosques and other hate crimes against Muslims, the highest since 2001 after the September 11th.
The silence of America’s leaders is as deafening as the vows of the victimized groups, “Never Again.” We must mean what we say. ##
