Abe Brown Ministries To Celebrate 40th Anniversary

Many years ago, the late
Rev. Abraham Brown
launched the Prison Crusade as a means of helping former in- mates with re-entry into society. He created the organization after visiting one of his former stu- dents in prison.
The name of the organization was later changed to Abe Brown Ministries, in honor of its founder.

athletes as the football coach be- fore retiring. Known as “Coach Brown,” he continued his serv- ice to the community as the Sen- ior Pastor of First Baptist Church of College Hill for several years.
During the annual Legacy Walk, three blocks in East Tampa was renamed in honor of Rev. Brown this year.
Robert Blount, CEO of Abe Brown Ministries is asking members of the community to gather for the unveiling. He is also asking members of the com- munity to participate in a fundraiser that began on No- vember 9 and will continue through December 18th.
“We are asking everyone to make a $40 donation, a dollar for every year the organization has been in existence. A unique keyword has been established in keeping with the 40 Days of Har- vest Campaign,” he said.
This year, the organization is making preparations to serve a minimum of 20 people form the Food for Life Pantry on Thanks- giving and on Christmas. In ad- dition to the Food for Life Pantry distribution, Abe Brown Min- istries will also serve groceries, a hot meal, gift cards, toys, cloth- ing, and personal hygiene prod- ucts to at least 100 children of incarcerated parents.
