Bucs Come Up Short Against Raiders In Overtime
Earl Thomas Hugs Official After Scoring TD, Is Penalized
EARL THOMAS
InwhathastobeanNFL first, Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas drew an un- sportsmanlike conduct penalty Sunday for hugging an official.
Thomas recovered a fum- ble by New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram in the first quarter and raced down the right sideline for a 34-yard touchdown. He gave the football to a fan in the stands, then ran toward an of- ficial with his arms wide open before going in for the hug.
The official didn't seem to appreciate the gesture and reached into his pocket imme- diately to flag Thomas for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Browns WR Josh Gordon Released From Rehab Facility
Usually when a team racks up an NFL record 23 penal- ties for 200 yards, you know they probably lost the game. Not so with the Oakland Raiders Sunday.
The Raiders came to Ray- mond James Stadium to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and left with a 30-24 over- time win.
The win didn’t come easy for the Raiders, who stum- bled and bumbled their way to the win, missing a couple of field goals, and their prized wide receiver, Amari Cooper, dropping a pass.
But, Raiders quarterback, Derek Carr, passed for 513 yards and 4 touchdowns, and took his team down the field for the game winning score.
For the Buccaneers, quar- terback Jameis Winston did just the opposite of what he’d been doing since the be- ginning of the season. Win- ston started off hot, leading the Bucs to a 10-0 lead, be- fore falling apart in the sec- ond half.
Most of Winston’s passes sailed high over the head of his receivers, and the

offense just couldn’t find any real consistency.
Both defenses made stands a critical times during the game, but it was the final stand by the Raiders that proved victorious for them.
The Bucs (3-4) must re- cover quickly to face NFC South rivals, the Atlanta Fal- cons in a Thursday night game. The Falcons are com- ing off a close win over the Green Bay Packers, and lead the NFC South with a 5-3 record.
Game time will be at 8:25 p. m., and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
Cleveland Browns wide re- ceiver Josh Gordon was re- leased last week from a rehab facility in New Hampshire where he spent the past 30 days, according to league sources.
It is said to be the most in- tensive treatment that he has gone through, and Gordon is doing "a lot better," one source said.
Gordon is now waiting for the NFL to determine whether he can rejoin his Browns teammates at their training facility, and whether he will be reinstated for the remainder of this season. For the time being, Gordon re- mains suspended, and it's un-

clear whether the league plans to reinstate him.
Sources said the Browns have moved on from Gordon and are looking to trade him. Although he is suspended, the Browns are allowed to trade Gordon before Tuesday's deadline.

Colin Kaepernick Hosts Camp To Teach Kids To ‘Know Your Rights’
Never let it be said that the only way Colin Kaepernick is acting on his political be- liefs is by kneeling during the national anthem. On Satur- day, the 49ers quarterback hosted a “Know Your Rights” camp for underprivileged children from the Bay Area.
With the 49ers on a bye week, Kaepernick used some of his down time to or- ganize and host the event, held at an Oakland commu- nity center with the help of several volunteers.
“We want to teach you today about financial literacy, how you can pursue higher education, how you can be physically fit and healthy,” the quarterback told the campers.

Could Mean New One For Former
NFL Player Aaron Hernandez
Attorneys representing for- mer New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez’s mur- der appeal are concerned about revelations that his jail- house phone calls were im- properly monitored by an unknown person — calling the security breach possible grounds for filing a motion for a new trial.
Attorney Linda Thomp- son, whose office was as- signed the case by the Committee for Public Counsel Services, emailed the Herald and Ronald Sullivan, a member of Hernandez’s new defense team, about her concerns.
She said she wants to know what Sullivan finds as his team investigates the security breach, which was reported
