Local
New App Taking Christian Music To Another Level
Independence Day Holiday Garbage Collection
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
The app, developed by a local couple, is reach- ing listeners from around the world.
For more than 30 years, Willie Weems has been an enthusiast about Christian music.
Over the years, he has used his passion to share the Word of God through music. He has opened music shops to distribute music, and sold sheet music, tapes, CDs and albums, yes albums, out of his employment and profes- sional businesses – from being a skycap to opening a school of cosmetology to his current security business.
Fast forward. Today, Weems and his wife, Wilma have developed a Christian music app, Joy
Cometh 24hr Gospel, Inc. Having become entrenched in the work of the Lord at his church, Center For Manifes- tation, Weems had stepped away from the work he had been doing with Christian music. He had previously hosted a radio show and started a music event at his
church.
“One of the ministers in
my church (Pastor Vincent Shannon) said, ‘hey man, when are we going to do this again?’ I told him I had to talk with God about it.”
When he inquired, God gave him the name, Joy Cometh. “I told the Lord, I had no name and no money.”
Weems went on to reflect on the turbulent times he and his wife had endured. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. During this time, the radio broadcast died.

In 2015, his wife, Wilma, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. But, he says the Lord told him she’d be fine. Now, he and his wife work to leave a legacy for their 4 adult chil- dren and their children.
Their 4 children are a part of the Joy Cometh staff.
