“Consider Adopting or Mentoring Siblings”
One Church One Child of Florida is reaching out to families and individuals in local communities across the state in efforts to help share the truth that there are chil- dren waiting for a permanent home and/or mentor.
Daily, over 700 children are in need of a family to call their own; many of them are minorities. Can you provide a loving, permanent home for these children or consider be- coming their mentors?
Churches are asked to partner with One Church One Child in sharing information with congregations and ex- tending Watch-Care Min- istries to children.
Rev. Beverly Hills Lane,
State President for One Church One Child of Florida and Vice-President for Na- tional One Church One Child, is challenging fellow Pastors to get involved and encourag- ing families to open their hearts and homes to children in foster care.

matic young man with a big heart. He loves science, and wants to become a chemical engineer when he grows up. He has an insatiable curios- ity, and once he latches on to an idea or interest, he’s de- termined to follow it through.
Marquele is a good and loyal friend, and a diehard Seahawks fan! Although he’s been through a lot in his young life, Marquele still has the simple desire of any kid; to be special to someone. He will thrive in a home with one or two loving, under- standing parents, and will do best as the youngest or only child.
If you are interested in knowing more about Mar- quele and other children in foster care available for adop- tion, or if you would like to become a foster parent, men- tor, partner or volunteer, please contact LaKay Fayson, Recruitment Coor- dinator for One Church One Child of Florida’s SunCoast Region, at (813) 740-0210 or lakay_fayson@ococfl.org.

An Evening With An Actor
Progress Village & Local News
Oscar Simmons, center, with his aunt, Gustava Harvey and his dad, James O. Simmons, Jr. at the Ulele Restaurant.
Tampa native Oscar Sim- mons was in town recently. Simmons is a professional actor and a pharmacist by trade. It was a special oppor- tunity to get to know an up and coming actor. And, it was also an opportunity to learn more about the business and what it takes to break into the movie industry.
Simmons was in town to appear in the film, "The Fa- vorite." While in town, he would record the audition for "Queen Sugar" and prepare for an audition for "Green- leaf."
Several local actors/ac- tresses had dinner with Oscar at the popular restau- rant Ulele's in downtown Tampa. The evening was co- ordinated by Geri Kelly, the Director of the most recent plays, "The Fullness of Time" and "The Christmas Post,"
produced at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts.
The actors present were:
Carrol Ingram, Pavonne Scott, Christina McDon- ald, Alice Santana (Com- munity Program Manager, Patel Conservatory Straz Cen- ter), Andre Ezeugwu, Kendon Drake and Beryl Colbert (Dance Choreogra- pher).
The group was joined by Oscar's father, James Oscar Simmons, Jr., his aunt, Gustava Harvey and his niece, Alaina Gibson.
Oscar's career has taken off this past year. He can be seen in the new series "Tales" on BET on June 27th and in Tyler Perry's "Haves and Have Nots" on July 18, 2017.
Don't miss the opportunity to see a Tampa native in these shows!!! (Photographs by BRUNSON)
