2016 Homicides In Review
Kydel Weldon, 44, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his roommate, Ms. Tina Ryan, 45. Another roommate con- tacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office after seeing blood in the residence on May 24th.
Deputies arrested Alton Demetrous Smith, 24, in connection with the murder of Zayronne Toussaint, 25, and the injury of Christo- pher Riley, 21. The double shooting took place on May 26th.
JUNE
Deputies referred the shooting death of Marco An- tonio Rogue, 19, to the State Attorney’s Office for further investigation and a ruling. Rogue was shot by James Thomas Dormany, after he allegedly struck the windshield of his car with a baseball and was shot. Dormany, 26, was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun.
On June 17th, deputies in- vestigated a double shooting at the Manhattan Palms Apart- ments on June 20th. Adeniyi Adebawale and Rakeem Robinson, both age 21, were hit by gunfire. Adebawale died as a result of his injuries. The case remains open.
On June 20th, Tampa Po- lice responded to a shooting at 17th Street and E. 21ST Avenue, in reference to a double shoot- ing. Corey Gordon, 17, died of his injuries and Christo- pher Vilbreana was criti- cally	injured.	Ronnie Thornton, 18, was charged with second-degree murder.
Kimwana Juan Jabar Hamilton, 40, was charged with the first-degree murder of Alfonso Igles, 47, and at- tempted second-degree mur- der of Ms. Nisha Carson, who was not injured. The mur- der took place on June 21st. Tampa Police investigated the case.
Tampa Police arrested
Tyrell Rashard Warren,
19, in connection with the shooting death of Ms. Maria J. Rivera-Contreras, 57, on June 23rd. Ms. Rivera-Con-
treras was struck by a stray bullet while sitting in a car.
JULY
The murder of Antowion Dixon, 43, remains under in- vestigation by the Plant City Police Department. Dixon was killed on July 2nd.
On July 7th, Marquette Dames, 24, was shot by a man riding a bicycle. Tampa Police is continuing its investi- gation in the case.
Deputies responded to 219 Bywater Drive, on July 11th in reference to a home invasion. Amari Martinez, 25, died after being shot. Three armed suspects reportedly committed the murder.
Deputies investigated the accidental shooting of Ms. Carolyn Wright, 52, that took place on July 15th.
Tampa Police arrested Antwoine Noland, 44, and charged him with the murder of Ms. Alica Lee Fussell, 43. She was shot while in a car on July 19th.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office issued a war- rant for the arrest of Antelmo Ontiveros in connection with the shooting death of his girl- friend, Ms. Banesa Mar- tinez Herrera, 30, and the injury of Christian Picazo- Guzman, who tried to help the victim. He remains at large.
Jose Colon, 28, and An- tonio Concepcion, 25, were arrested in November and
charged with the murder of
Ms. Ivonne Rivera Ramos.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigated the murder on July 29th.
AUGUST
Jerry Robinson was shot while at 2301 E. Sligh Avenue, on August 5th. He died as a re- sult of his injuries. No charges were filed in the case.
Robert	Padgett	was cleared by the State Attorney’s Office after he was threatened by Gary Durham, and shot him on August 10th. The Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice investigated the shooting.
Tampa Police Detectives charged Carlos Cordero in connection with the murder of Alfred Watton Watton died on August 17th, at 6402 N. 20th Street.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment investigated the murder of Chad Pierson, 23, that took place on August 21st. Twenty-nine-year-old Lavar McNair was arrested and charged.
The shooting death of Lev- onia Riggins, III, on August 30th, was ruled justifiable homicide. He was killed by Hillsborough County Deputy Caleb Johnson.
SEPTEMBER
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of the death of Matthew Wissman, 31, and the injury of Carlos Taylor, 33. No charges have been filed in the case.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is continuing its investi- gation into the murder of 20-year-old Nathaniel Jones, 29, that took place on September 17th at 1711 E. Idell Street.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Thomas Elmore, Jr., 43, and charged him with second- degree murder. He told police, through his attorney that he came home and found his girl- friend, 48-year-old Tamara Nash, dead from a gunshot at their home.
However, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner ruled the case a homicide and not a suicide.
OCTOBER
The shooting death of Isa- ias Salgado, 31, that took place on October 4, was re- ferred to the State Attorney’s Office for a ruling. It was a deputy involved shooting.
Ms. Destiny Mayes, 30, was killed on October 11th. Her death remains under investi- gation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Tampa Police arrested Jovan Huggins in connec- tion with the death of Ms. La- Toya Smith Carswell, on October 20th. He was arrested on an active warrant out of state.

Tampa Police Department opened an investigation into the death of Christopher Dexter, Jr., 30. The investi- gation is continuing.
Leroy Livingston John- son, 24, was arrested and charged with the murder of Kelly E. Stacy, Jr. The 17- year-old died on October 30th.
NOVEMBER
On November 1st, the body of Ms. Evelyn Woodham,
26, was discovered in a ditch in Palm River. The Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for the ar- rest of James Luis Scott in connection with the murder.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigating the murder of Michael Turner that took place on November 1st, at 3205 E. Deleuil Avenue.
Tampa Police are continu- ing their investigation into the murder of Diego Bisso that took place on November 5th, at 8809 Crestview Dr.
Jessie Thomas Harris, Jr., was arrested and charged with the November 10th mur- der of 56-year-old Gregory Walker. Tampa police inves- tigated the murder.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment arrested Damon Timo- thy Larry, 23, and charged him with the stabbing death of his father, 43-year-old Damon D. Larry. The mur- der occurred on November 17th.
The Plant City Police De- partment investigated the murder of Ms. Roccio Be- cerra, 31, that took place on November 28th. The case re- mains open. A warrant for the arrest of Juan Carlos Diaz Gutierrez has been issued.
