Viola Davis Is First Black Woman To Get 3 Oscar Nods
Tuesday is a memorable day for Viola Davis, whose re- markable performance in the film “Fences” has earned her an Oscar nomination.
It is also a historic one: Davis is now the first and only black actress to have received three Oscar nominations. Davis has previously twice been nominated for Best Sup- porting Actress, in the 2009 film “Doubt” and for Best Ac- tress in the 2012 film “The Help.”
Davis’s stunning perform- ance in “Fences,” which was adapted from a play by director August Wilson, has received widespread praise. She even

took home the Golden Globe for her role in the film earlier this month.
New Edition Gets Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star
The wait is finally over! Keshia Knight Pulliam an- nounced the birth of her first child on Instagram, a baby girl named Ella Grace.
After announcing her preg- nancy back in July, Pulliam has been through lots of drama with her ex-husband, Ed Hartwell, who filled for a di- vorce seven months into her pregnancy.
The former NFL player has not made any public comments about the birth of his daughter.
Jay Z Sells Shares Of Tidal To Sprint For $200 Million
Jay Z has been making major boss moves behind the scenes.
Monday, Tidal announced that Sprint purchased 33 per- cent of their stakes, which is $200 million, according to sources. Jay Z and various artist-related owners will re- main shared owners in Tidal.
According to a Billboard re- port, Tidal will now be avail- able to Sprint’s 45 million retail customers, both the companies will continue the tradition of releasing exclusives from its artist. Sprint’s CEO Marcelo Claure will now join Tidal’s board of directors.

building TIDAL into a world- class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content,” Claure said in a statement.

Lee “Q” O’Denat died in his sleep.
They were the originators of the boy band movement of the 1980s and 1990s. It was be- cause of them that doors were open for groups like New Kids on the Block, The Boys, Boyz II Men, Hi-Five, Backstreet Boys, and N’Sync.
Boston's own New Edition, the R&B megagroup that topped the charts in the 1980s, received their star on the Hol- lywood Walk of Fame on Mon- day.
The star, in the recording cat- egory, was unveiled at 7080 Hollywood Blvd.
New Edition members, Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill were all in atten- dance for the ceremony.
The group formed in 1983 and rose to fame with hits like
“Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now” and “Mr. Telephone Man.”
According to the Walk of Fame website, New Edition had 18 multi-platinum albums, received 4 American Music Awards, 14 No. 1 records and countless Billboard Top 20 hits.
Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill went on to have successful solo careers as did Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe when they created Bell-Biv-DeVoe.
Monday's ceremony took place one day before a three- part miniseries about the group’s rise to fame called “The New Edition Story” which is scheduled to air on BET.
An estimated 1,500 fans turned out for the ceremony, according to officials with the Walk of Fame.
WorldStarHipHop Founder, 43, Dies
Dipset And L&HH Star Juelz Santana Talks About Future Plans
Hip Hop lost a pioneer Tues- day (January 24) with the news that WorldStarHipHop founder Lee “Q” O’Denat has died.
It is being reported that Q passed away in his sleep at the age of 43. Their source says he died of a heart attack, although an autopsy will happen later today.
Q started WorldStarHipHop in 2005 as a platform for mix- tapes. The site evolved to be- come a hub for music videos and outrageous clips.
WorldStar has been criticized for the graphic nature of its con- tent.
Reports of Q’s death come just ahead of the February 3 pre- miere of Worldstar TV on MTV2. The weekly show will feature comedians and Hip Hop personalities reacting to clips from the site.
The Diplomats (popularly known as Dipset) was founded in 1997 by Cam'ron and Jim Jones. The members were Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey. Juelz Santana joined the group in 1999. Santana is on far right.
Juelz Santana managed to score a few hits with his Diplo- mat brothers as well as during his solo career, and now the Harlem rapper is preparing a major return to the scene.
Santana, now 35, was a guest at the studios of Complex Music, where he discussed his future aims and hopes of a pos- sible Dipset reunion.
In the chat, Juelz detailed
his plans to release more solo tunes and said that he and Lil Wayne are still connected and have a vault’s worth of music together.
On the state of Dipset, Juelz explained that his cur- rent push for new music could serve to inspire the rest of his crew to patch up the beef be- tween Cam’ron and Jim Jones.
