AIKENS
MRS. BERNICE OPAL OCTAVIA BROWN
A Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Bernice Opal Octavia Brown, of Tampa, who passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, will be held Saturday, Oc- tober 20th, 11 a.m., at Grace Mary M. B. Church, 3901 N. 37th Street, Elder Dr. Thomas J. Reed, pas- tor, Pastor James R. Reed, Jr., officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born Janu- ary 27, 1951, in Millen, Georgia, to the late Willie and Corine Morris.
She was educated in the pub- lic schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Brandon High School. Mrs. Brown attended Grace Mary M. B. Church. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Damian Brown, John R. Brown, Jr., Avery Mathis and Ronald Brown; sister, Christine Former; and brothers, Allen Morris and David Earl Morris.
She leaves to cherish her pre- cious memories with her devoted husband, John R. Brown, Sr.; children, Dan Mathis (Sharon), Derrick Mathis (Marvina), Gabriel Brown, Delatoria Brown (Rhonda) and Jennifer Brown; brother, Jerome Morris; sisters, Mary Pittman, Shirley Jean Mor- ris, Willie Mae Crawford (Noble), of Dallas, Texas and Stephania Price, of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Dan- nisha Mathis, Danielle Mathis, Danbrinae Mathis, Greyson Brown, Jermiah Brown, Destiny Mathis, Gerald Rhoden (Jeanene), Javaris Brown, Krist- ian Brown, Tia Brown, Eshia Brown and Marquis Brown; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives that will miss her.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, October 19th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.

In her leisure time, Dee had
an array of hobbies from shop- ping, reading, playing cards, word games and puzzles. She was an avid sports fan of football, baseball and bowling. She en- joyed going to games in full gear and made her own cheering sec- tion. She had an appreciation of Black Art and collecting her fa- vorite Black Angels, Black Santa Claus’ and Ladies Hats of the Church figurines. She had a gift for organization – everything had a place.
Devora “Dee” was employed by Florida Department of Health for many years, until she transi- tioned to AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees).
She served as a Union Field Representative and Business Agent, where she arbitrated for the union workers in the South- east, Midwest and International regions. Her position afforded her the opportunity to travel to many cities and states. After 18 years, she decided to retire and spend time with her family.
Devora (Dee) leaves to cher- ish her memory and rejoice her life: her loving husband of 42 years, Taylor “Sol” Solomon; her care-giving daughters, Veroniya Winkfield, Yolanda Miller-Douse and Shamyka N. Solomon; step son, Gabriel A. Solomon (Lysaun- dra); step daughter, Chandrea Hernandez (Darrell); step grand- children, Gabriel A. Solomon, Jr., (Raven), Khiry Hernandez, Auriel Solomon, Zania Hernandez, Daiven Solomon; stepfather, Johnnie L. Morris; sister, Alfre- dia L. Boman; brother, John E. Morris; nieces, Jomesha Iles and Deidre Brown;god daughters, Joterra Iles, Candi Jacks, Wanda Singleton; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Homegoing Services for Mr. Melvin (Mr. D) Danner, who passed away October 6, 2018, will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 a. m. at Harmon Funeral Home, 5002 N. 40th St., Tampa FL 33610, with Minister Tyjuan Jenkins, officiating. In- terment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Melvin Danner was born April 15, 1944 in Walterboro, South Carolina, to parents Reuben Danner and Netha Fra- zier Danner. He was educated in the Catholic Schools System of Colleton County.
He was joined in Holy Matri- mony to Carol McCormick Dan- ner.

MRS. HAZER SMITH
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hazer Lee Smith will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 11 a. m. at Integrity Fu-

Church, Tampa, officiating. Hazer Lee Smith was born June 3, 1946 in Sale City, Geor- gia, to the late Otis Williams and Levater Spann and stepfa- ther, James Spann. Hazer moved to Tampa, Florida in 1966. She was a very devoted wife to Charlie Raymond Smith, in which he was an excellent Primary Caretaker and a
stronger husband.
Hazer’s two favorite quotes
were, “Blessed by the Best,” and “I don’t give a Rats ...!!” She was a hard worker, full time mother, a fighter, funny, and she also had a passion for help- ing others. She was a foster mother to others and loved everyone. She’s never met a stranger; her heart was gold to everyone. Hazer didn’t go to church every day, but she knew and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a woman of faith and convictions.
Hazer Lee Smith was called home to her mansion by our Heavenly father on October 10, 2018.
She was preceded in going home by: her mother, father, granddaughter, Ulicia L. S. Mungen Spain, and her brother, Johnny C. Williams, along with a few other brothers and sisters.
Hazer was cherished by: her husband, Charles Smith; and her loving children, Edward and Tasha McCall of Moultrie, Georgia, Eddie Mungin, Pamela Williams, Toylander Smith, and Gary Mungen; siblings, Robert Thomas of Tampa, Bet- tique Ismail of New York, Willie C. and Ivena Williams of Riverview, Pearline and Robert Williams of California and Cyn- thia Fleurant of Palm River; a host of grands, and great- grands; a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held Fri- day, October 10, 2018, at In- tegrity Funeral Services from 6-8 p. m.

MRS. DEVORA ‘DEE’ SOLOMON
A Homegoing celebration for Mrs. Devora “Dee” Solomon, age 71, of Tampa, was called to rest and entered through the gates of heaven on Monday, October 8, 2018. The service will be held Sat- urday, October 20th, 11 a.m., at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 8525 N. 78th St, Temple Terrace, Pastor George Martin with Rev. Leon Gallon, eulogist. The interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
“Dee” was born on June 16, 1947, in Atlanta, GA (Fulton County) and later relocated with her parents to Tampa, FL, where she grew up in the Hyde Park, West Tampa and Progress Village communities. Devora attended the public schools of Hillsbor- ough County and was a proud graduate of the renowned Howard Wesley Blake High School. She was voted “most wit- tiest” of her class of 1965. She fur- ther matriculated at Morris Brown College, Atlanta, GA.
Devora accepted the Lord early in life. Throughout her Christian walk in life she served as a loyal and faithful servant to many ministries: NSMBC Dea- coness, Shepherd’s Ministry, NSMBC Praise Team, NSMBC after school care and summer camp ministry, Usher Board, Fi- nance Committee, and The Loy- alty Club (President).
Preceding her in death were her mother, Alma T. Morris and father, Alexander Douse (Atlanta, GA); and step sister, Cheryl Mor-
