RAY WILLIAMS
MR. MOSE POWELL, JR.
Mr. Mose Powell, Jr., 91, of Tampa, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the LifePath Hospice.
He was the second of eight children of the late Mose Powell, Sr. and Mattie Powell Stanley in Tallahassee, FL. He was drafted into the Army at the age of 18, while still in high school and served his Country in World War II.
He returned home to com- plete high school and gradu- ate from FAMC in 1949. While at FAMC, Mose Powell met and married the love of his life, Rebecca Gibson.
He began his career teach- ing auto mechanics at Don Thompson High School. He also taught auto mechanics at Blake High School, Tampa Bay Vocational High, and Plant High during his 31 years with the Hillsborough County School System.
Many local organizations, schools and churches mem- bers remember Mose Powell as the bus driver to many sports events, social engagements and entertainment parks.
Mose Powell was a mem- ber of the First Baptist Church of West Tampa, FAMU Alumni Association, Hillsborough County Teach- ers Association, American Legion and Masons.
He will be remembered for his unconditional love and lifelong devotion to his family. He was loved and ad- mired by those who were blessed to know him. He was a wonderful example of a life well lived.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Rebecca Powell; daughters, Rhonda Canady and Cynthia Agee; grandson, Jamahl Wilson; three broth- ers, Henry Powell, Rudolph Powell and Gregory Powell; and three sisters, Shellie Adams, Lucy Rollins and Lu- venia Powell.
Survivors include: sister, Susie Brown; children Mau- rice Powell (Janet), Phillippa Robertson, Amahl Powell (Donna), and Beverly Powell.
He had eighteen grand- children, fifty-one great grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a. m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of West Tampa, with Reverend Dr. Rayford Harper, pastor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6-8 p. m. at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gardenofmemoriestampa.com
MS. DIANE LAVERNE CAREY
Diane LaVerne Carey of Tampa, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Novem- ber28at2p.m.atFirstBap- tist Church of West Tampa, 1302 N. Willow Avenue, with Reverend Dr. Rayford Harper, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Diane LaVerne Carey af- fectionately known as “Wease” was a resident of Tampa for 62 years. She was a graduate of Howard W. Blake Senior High, class of 1971. She was baptized at an early age at New Salem M. B. Church.
Diane had been a lifelong member of the West Tampa and Hyde Park Community. She was employed with Tampa General Hospital, Mirabella and Oriental Fish Market.
She was preceded in death by: her grandmother, Ruby Banks; her parents, William and Barbara Carey; her brother, Lee Earl Carey; and aunts, Jessie Jolliff and Nel- lie Smith.

MR. ANTHONY BURKE
Mr. Anthony Burke, affec- tionately known as “Amp,” went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 16, 2015.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Novem- ber28,2015,at11a.m.atEx- citing Central Tampa Baptist Church, 2923 N. Tampa Street, with Pastor Jeffery L. Singletary, officiating. Inter- ment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Ceme- tery.
Anthony was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, born to Rosa L. Powell and James Williams. He was edu- cated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1983. Anthony furthered his education and became a licensed Bails Bondman. He was the youngest Black Bails Bondman to open a bails bond business in 1998 at the age of 33.
He was a faithful member of Exciting Central Tampa Baptist Church serving with the Bible Fellowship Group.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Rosa L. Pow- ell; father, James Williams; brother, Edward Burke; sis- ter, Regina; and aunt, Marie Benson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, A’Lisa Burke; sisters, Janice Burke, Patricia Balloon (An- drew), Debra Burke Harris, Cynthia Lonon, Vernice Burke and Marie (Charles); brothers, Joe Burke, Eric Burke, Tim (Carol), Reggie, Tom, Roger, Terry and Vic- tor; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other sor- rowing relatives and friends.

MS. GLORIA JEAN EDMONDS
Ms. Gloria Jean Edmonds of Tampa, affectionately known as “BG,” passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Tampa General Hos- pital.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Novem- ber 28, at 11 a. m. at North- side Missionary Baptist Church, 5706 N. 40th Street, Reverend Leonard Harring- ton, officiating, with Pastor Ricardo Robinson, eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Gloria Jean Edmonds was a native and lifelong res- ident of Tampa. She attended Blake High School in Hills- borough County. Gloria was a loving mother, grand- mother, sister and friend.
Loved ones that preceded Gloria Jean in death were: parents, Wilbur and Roberta Edmonds; and brother, Wilbur Edmonds Jr.

MR. JAMES MARCUS EVANS
Mr. James Marcus Evans of Tampa, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015. Local funeral services will be conducted Friday, No- vember 27, 2015, at 1 p. m. at Tampa First Seventh-Day Ad- ventist Church, 822 W. Linebaugh Avenue, with Pas- tor Brad Cassell, officiating.
A second funeral service will be held in Mobile, Ala- bama. The Interment will be held in the Cade Family Cemetery, Thomaston, AL.
Mr. Evans was a native of Thomaston, Alabama, and was reared in Mobile, AL, after the age of 10. He was a resident of Tampa for 27 years.
Mr. Evans was educated in the public schools of Marengo and Mobile County, AL, and he furthered his ed- ucation at Southern Univer- sity, Baton Rouge, LA, and the University of South Florida, Tampa.
Mr. Evans was a member of Tampa First SDA Church.
He was a former NFL foot- ball player for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1987, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1988.
He was also the Founder and Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope, where he motivated and assisted in positively changing the lives of many Tampa Bay area youth.
Mr. Evans was a Life Coach-Motivational Speaker and the Entrepreneur of Eagle Quest Group, Inc. until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Cade. James is survived by: his
wife, Gail Evans; daughters, Triniti and Destini Evans; brothers, LV Evans, Earnest Evans (Zeonobia), William Evans (Grace), James Joe Evans (Jennifer), Dumas Evans, Philip Evans and Vic- tor Evans (Alecia); sisters, Shirley (Talmadge) Harri- son, Bettye Evans and Mary (Christopher) Jackson; adopted brothers, Pete Du- rand, Bob Conigliaro, AJ Hooper, Arthur Bullard, Ear- lon Adams, Chuck Winship and KC Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The remains will repose and the family will receive friends from 4-7 p. m., Wednesday, November 25 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
