Trump Dismisses Cory Booker’s 2020 Run: ‘He’s Got No Chance’
Trump Likely To Declare National Emergency During State Of Union Speech
PRESIDENT TRUMP
Sen. Cory Booker (D- N.J.) announced his 2020 run on Friday, but Presi- dent Donald Trump has already discounted him as a threat.
“He’s got no chance,” Trump told CBS News’ Margaret Brennan in a “Face the Nation” interview scheduled to air Sunday.
Asked to explain, the pres- ident replied, “Because I know him. I don’t think he has a chance.”
Trump argued that no one on the left is a potential contender yet, and felt the Democrats are lacking a seri- ous candidate.
“So far, I don’t see any- body,” he said. “I’m not im-

pressed with their group.” Booker’s announcement video, which was symboli- cally released on day one of Black History Month, shows him walking through the streets of Newark, promoting
a message of unity. “Together, we will chan-
nel our common pain back into our common purpose,” he says. “Together, America, we will rise.”
The packed field of po- tential Democratic nominees who’ve announced their campaigns also includes Obama-era Housing and Urban Development Secre- tary Julián Castro along with Sens. Elizabeth War- ren (Mass.), Kirsten Gilli- brand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii). Star- bucks CEO Howard Schultz has also openly toyed with the idea of a run as an independent, though he has made no definitive an- nouncement.
President Donald Trump is hinting at the fact that he’s going to de- clare a national emergency and because the president is a reality star who lives for drama, he’s probably going to announce it during the State of The Union, Feb. 5.
“I think there’s a good chance we will have to do that,” the president said when asked about whether he’s prepared to declare a national emergency to fund his wall along the U. S.-Mex- ico border, Politico reports. The move would most likely be held up in court hearings because it completely by- passes a little-known inter-
nal White House document called the Constitution of the United States of Amer- ica.
After 35 days, the longest partial government shut- down in American history, the president decided to re- open the government when he realized that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was- n’t playing games. But, the president, being the petty bitch that he is, only allowed for the government to stay up and running until Feb. 15, while a negotiation over the border wall continued. Trump is demanding $5.7 billion in funding for a wall that no one wants.
Majority Of Black Clemson Football Players Opted Out Of White House Visit
After the fallout from the now infamous White House “hamberder” feast that was fed to the Clemson champi- onship football team, we now know that most of the Black football players sat out the trip to meet Trump.
According to The Root, a Black football player who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that many players opted out of visiting the White House based on President Donald Trump’s “divisive politics” and “racism.”
“Players were talking amongst each other,” he said. “Everybody was like: ‘I’m not

going to that.’”
According to the outlet,
only 15 of the 57 Black stu-
dent athletes at Clemson took the trip to Washington to attend.
Texas Republicans Hit With Another Lawsuit Over ‘Unfounded Voter Purge’
Texas Republican leaders face a new federal lawsuit over their attempt to question the voting rights of nearly 100,000 people, this one claiming they personally con- spired to suppress the votes of naturalized citizens and racial minorities.
A lawsuit filed early Satur- day morning in U. S. district court in Corpus Christi by the Mexican-American Legal De- fense and Educational Fund accused several top Texas Re- publicans of conspiring to suppress suffrage rights “by coordinating an unfounded voter purge campaign with threats of criminal prosecu-
tion aimed at naturalized citi- zen voters.”
The complaint targets the state’s top GOP officials ― Gov. Greg Abbott, Secre- tary of State David Whitley and Attorney General Ken Paxton ― and seeks damages if a judge finds that their al- leged conspiracy violates the Voting Rights Act.
The lawsuit, brought on be- half of several Texas voters and three organizations that run voter registration proj- ects, is the latest in a string of legal challenges seeking to overturn a controversial voter probe that Republican leaders cite as evidence of voter fraud,
but critics deride as a thinly veiled attempt to suppress the vote of naturalized citizens, who are overwhelmingly of Latin American or Asian birth.
“It’s become clear as the purge effort has unraveled over the course of a week and the state officials have refused to withdraw the purge list that their real intentions are not related to maintaining the in- tegrity of the voter rolls,” MALDEF attorney Nina Perales told HuffPost, “but instead are to take eligible voters off the rolls and intimi- date naturalized citizens from voting.”
