In the October 8th edition of the Sentinel, an article stated that Jordin Vance-Lewis was the first African American “Cover Girl” in the Plant City Calendar Girl competition.
The Sentinel has since been informed that Michelle Sanders was the first African American to win the title during the 1980s. We also learned that Fallon Rhoden also won the title in 1999. We apologize for any incon- venience the error may have caused.

West African Event Coming To University Community Center
Divine Help Hands, In- corporated (DHH) will be having their second annual West African Ballet Dance and Drumming Forum Night on November 19th from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Univer- sity Area Community Center, 14013 North 22nd Street.
Divine Helping Hands was founded in 2013 by Ur- sule Martin to make educa- tion affordable for everyone all around the world, and specifically in developing countries.
“We all strive for excel- lence and challenge ourselves to come up with a way of making education affordable for everyone,” said Ms. Mar- tin.
“Our vision at DHH is to see individuals all around the world excel in their studies. We specifically have at heart to assist schools in a number of African nations where the literacy rate is relatively low. This vision was directly in- spired by God’s Word. The Bible declares, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” (Hosea 4:6).
DHH was birthed out of this scriptural revelation. Their commitment to helping individuals receive afford- able, quality education stems

from this truth: the only rea- son why we are who we are today is because we were once ‘touched’ by ‘divine helping hands’.
“Our passion about edu- cation and our belief in the power of divine intervention indicate that we will not fully capitalize on our learning ex- periences until we pour the knowledge we have into someone else,” said Ms. Martin.
“As conventional wisdom holds, you make a living with what you earn and you make
a life with what you give.” The forum will be high- lighted by kumba dancers and drummers of Myron Jackson, and they will per- form along with other
groups.
The forum will be filled
with dance music and African cuisine. Four different dance groups will showcase West African traditional and mod- ern dance, spiced with African ballet storytelling.
