Warrant Issued For
Wrong Way Driver Charged With DUI
Man Accused Of Theft From Elderly
A 35-year-old man was ar- rested after he was involved in a traffic accident while travel- ing in the wrong direction. The accident took place on U. S. 41 near Valroy Road Friday night.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Wendel Jamel James, of Clearwater was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry southbound in the northbound lanes of U. S. Highway 41.
Ms. Colleen Switt, 26, of Ruskin, was traveling north- bound on U. S. Highway 41, in 2016 Hyundai Accent.
Investigators said James was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour when he was observed by an off duty Pinel- las County deputy.
Detectives with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice have issued a warrant for a man. He is accused of taking items belonging to elderly pa- tients.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Dian’te Ja’Shad Matthew, 24, of Tampa. When arrested, Matthew will be charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property, defrauding a pawnbroker, and exploitation of an elderly person.
According to Detectives, Matthew was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Facility, 13810 Sheldon Road. Between June 10 and June 14, Matthew is accused of de- priving a 91-year-old patient of her wedding ring. He then pawned the right on June 14th at Mr. Money Pawn, corner of E. Hillsborough Avenue and N. 34th Street.

another patient had been pawned on May 26th. Matthew was terminated on June 17th.
Detectives are still actively investigating the shooting. They are asking anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-00-873-TIPS, or www.crimestopperstb.com.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward fo up to $3,000 for information about the shoot- ing. Callers can remain anony- mous.

the inside lane when the right side of his vehicle sideswiped the left side of Ms. Switt’s ve- hicle.
Ms. Switt’s vehicle ro- tated and came to rest in the median. James continued traveling in the wrong direc- tion until the Pinellas deputy made a U-turn into his path and he stopped. She received minor injuries.
James was arrested and charged with DUI property damage, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an acci- dent. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.
Separate Accident
Two deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene to assist the Florida Highway Pa- trol in the accident investiga- tion. The deputies and the Highway Patrol troopers were standing in the grass center median with their lights flash- ing on their vehicle.
Police said the driver of a

2011 Honda Accord observed the emergency lights and stopped to allow the deputies to cross the street. However, a vehicle driven by Panfilo Hernandez Saldana, of Tampa, failed to stop behind the Honda. After being struck on the rear bumper, the Honda was knocked into the HCSO marked vehicle which was parked on the shoulder of the road.
Both passengers in the Honda were transported to a local hospital. A passenger in Saldana’s vehicle was also transported to a local hospital. Saldana was not injured.
When deputies made con- tact with him, Saldana re- portedly had blood shot, watery eyes, had a strong odor of alcohol, and his speech was slurred.
He provided two breath samples and was charged with DUI Property Damage and having n0 valid driver’s li- cense, police said.

Man Arrested For Shooting At Teens Inside Vehicle

The St. Petersburg Police Department is currently inves- tigating a home invasion that ended in gunfire. The incident took place early Sunday.
According to police, officers responded to 4150 11th Avenue, South, in reference to a shoot- ing. When they arrived, they learned that three men had forced their way into the home.
The home is occupied by three brothers. All of the broth- ers were at home, police said.
Gunfire erupted inside he house and two of the brothers, identified as Ackeem Marks, 25, and 21-year-old Shae- vaughn Marks, were both in- jured. Ackeem Marks was listed in critical, but stable con- dition.
Shaevaughn Marks suf- fered non-life threatening in- juries. Police did not identify the third brother, however, he was not injured in the shoot-
ing.Police said one of the sus- pects was fatally wounded in the exchange of gunfire. He was identified as 35-year-old Cory D. McClendon.
The investigation is contin- uing.
UNCLE SANDY
On June 13th, two juve- niles reported to the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Office that an unknown man had shot at them. The juve- niles told police they had been followed after leaving the mall.
Detectives reviewed the video from Westfield Shop- ping Town Center Mall and stated that it appears the sus- pects followed the victims throughout the mall. It is be- lieved they intended to rob them.
Once the teenagers left the mall, the suspects fol- lowed them to the 1200 block of Lausberg Place, in Valrico. At that point, the man exited the vehicle and approached their car. He pointed a gun at the victim’s vehicle and shot at the passenger side door.
The teens fled the scene and were not injured. They reported the incident to po- lice.
The male suspect, was de- scribed as a Hispanic man, 5’10” and weighing about 180 pounds. He is about 25 years
of age with a thin build, tattoos on his left arm and dark hair.
The fe- male sus- pect is ROBERT described OCASIO as a Black COLON woman, about 5’5” tall and weighing between 130 to 150 pounds. Sheis25to35yearsofage with a short braided or
dreaded hair style.
As a result of the continu-
ing investigation, detectives have identified Roger Oca- sio Colon, 23, of Riverview, as a suspect. He was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, 2 counts of aggra- vated assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an oc- cupied vehicle, and driving with license suspended.
Colon was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail. His bond was set at $18,500.
